The following quote is from the book Gravestone Inscriptions Volume 9 County Down, compiled by R.S.J. Clarke published by the Ulster Historical Foundation, Belfast 1972.
Page 17 states under Clough Presbyteran Graveyard:
O.S. 37 Grid ref. 407401
This is in the Town and Townland of Clough in the parish of Loughinisland and is hidden from the main roads but backs on to the newer Non Subscribing Presbyterian Church. The congregation dates from before 1687 as there was a minister there at that time. The oldest date of death on a headstone is 1744 and the baptismal and marriage registers ... date from 1791. The congregation split over the Arian controversy and a new church was built for the Non Subscribers in 1837...
Page 19 states: under Kennedy:
/ In a high railed enclosure/. Here lies the remains of Thomas Kennedy of Drumcaw who departed this life 11 May 1790 aged 61 years. Also David Coskrey of Teevindaragh who departed this life 11 August 1795 aged 29 years. Also Thos. Coskery of Tevinadara who departed this life 07 March 1734 aged 55 years. And his beloved wife Mary who died 1 May 1847 aged 67 years. Also their daughter Mary Jane who died 26 January 1850 aged 35 years. Also their Son Alexander who died 30 January 1882 aged 72 years.
Entry 2 page 19 states under Kennedy:
/Worn horizontal stone with a crack, in a high railed enclosure with the previous stone/. This stone was erected in the memory of the late Robert Kennedy of Teevinadaragh who departed this life on August 17th 1799 aged (??) years.
A safe companion and trusty friend Unblamed through life, lamented in the end.
Here lie the remains of John Coskrey, Teevindaragh who departed this life 24 February 1803 aged 73 years. Also Thomas Kennedy of Drumcaw who departed this life 7 April 1803 aged 23 years. Also Robert Kennedy of Knocksticken who departed this life November 16 18(??) aged 70 years.
Entry 3 page 19 states under Kennedy:
Errected by Margaret Kennedy of Knocksticken in memory of her husband Robt. Kennedy who departed this life 17 March 1819 aged 68 years. Likewise their son James who departed 14 April 1817 aged 17 years. Also their son Robert who departed 30th October 1829 aged 40 years.
Entry 4 page 19 states: under Kennedy:
Errected by John Kennedy of Drumcaw in memory of his wife Ann Kennedy who did 20th April 1855 aged 37 years.
Entry 5 states: under Kennedy:
/Modern stone in a stone enclosure/. Erected by Robert John Kennedy, Knocksticken,. Thomas Kennedy died 8 January 1860 , Anne Kennedy 20 March 1865, Robert Kennedy died 4 May 1878 Agnes Kennedy died 9 December 1902, His Uncle Thomas Kennedy died 1 Feburary 1940, His father William Kennedy died 1 October 1942. His sister Elizabeth Miller died 18 May 1943.
I would like to hear from anybody who is related to these Kennedy, Coskrey/ Croskery/ Coskery families.
