Looking for information on Lester and Leo Woods. The were brothers born to Jessie James and Mamie (Broughton) Woods. Records indicate they grew up in the Bradford/Union county area. Any info will be appreciated.

Thomas Hemingway - Starke

There was a Thomas S. Hemingway who served as surgeon for the 7th SC Cavalry. While trying to discover information about him, I saw a Thomas Hemingway is listed as being buried at Crosby Lake Cemetery in Starke. On the grave it states he was born in Conwayboro SC, and was in the Civil War. Most likely this is who I'm looking for. I also found the following:

"The first Starke courthouse utilized the second floor of a mercantile building owned by Thomas Hemingway."

Could anyone tell me if these could be the same man? Thanks!

Manley Terrell

Looking for information on the children of Manley Terrell and Elsie (Woods) Terrell. Their names are James and Williams. They were born in the early 1940's. Manley died in 1945 and Elsie in 1949. They were living in Macclenny, Florida when Manley and Elsie passed away. Any help will be appreciated.

My great great grandmother was a Pribe. I have been doing family research on her. What I do know is listed below:
Lizzie Macholl. She was born 1866 in Germany and died in the USA in 1948. Her mother was a Pribe. I do not have her father's name. Lizze had 3 other sisters.
Emma, the oldest, Martha, then Elizabeth (Lizzie in 1866) and the youngest Gertrude.
Lizzie, who would be my great grandmother, married Edwin Gerwien pre 1900?. They had 4 daughters and a son.

Lola Amanda 12/21/1905 - 4/11/1983 - by grandmother
Vernith
Harvey, 1910

Marlene, after 1911

I did a little research on Ancestry and found E. W. Thomas in the Florida census of 1885, Dist. 4, Bradford county, page 158, line 12, archives Series #M845, Roll 1

E. W. Thomas, age 41, white male, born in Florida, birth year about 1844, is married. His father's and mother's birth place Georgia.

Household members are:

Mary Thomas, wife, age 40
A. C. Thomas, age 18
C. F. thomas, age 16
E. A. Thomas, age 14
B. A. Thomas, age 7
N. E. Thomas, age 5
J. W. Thomas, age 4
S. O. thomas, age 1

I checked my records for your Mary Thomas buried in New River Cemetery. My records show Mary C. Thomas, born 1856, died 1928. Could not find your other family members in New River cemetery.

My Grandfather Edgar Alan Thomas was born in Bradford County. He moved to Tampa in the 1940's. My mom told me that his parents, my great grandparents are buried in Bradford, possibly Alachua County. EW Thomas and Mary Roberts Thomas. I would greatly appreciate any information on them and where they may be buried. I have looked at most of the cemetaries in Bradford County and found a Mary Thomas at New River Cemetary. I know I have a lot of relatives not far from where I live. Thank you. Susan.

I am looking for John and Mamie Henderson. I think John was born abt 1900 in VA Mamie was 1904 in FL (I think her last name was Austin)
I have found them on the 1930 federal cenus and 35 and 45 Florida.
Does anyone have access to early marriage records or other Florida census?
I think Mamie was born in Live Oak.
If anyone knows about any of their kids that would be great too. Charlie, Ruby, John, Carl, Ella, Walter, Louis, Beatice, I might of left some out.
I would like to know if they stayed in Bradford or where they might of gone.

I'm the daughter of Wayne Teston and the niece to Jerry Teston of Lawtey. My Dad lives in starke with his 2nd wife Kim. There is Jonathan & me his only kids. He has 5 Grandchildren. My Uncle Jerry ever had any kids just a dog he took everywhere. He didn't die of cancer. He was in the VA hospital to remove a blockage in his intestines. After his surgery he develop an infection in his lungs and antibiotic didn't work. He was on life support for a couple of days and known what was going on. Doctors told us we wasn't getting better and the damage was done. They gave his wife Salvia the choice to pull the plug. She did on July 3, 2003.

My Roberts line is through John J. Roberts; his son, Henry John, b. 8-14-1819 SC; d. 1-21-1874 FL; m. 7-18-1839 Madison Co., FL to Dorcus (Doria; Doria J.; Dorea S. ) Polk b. 1823. Didn't find him in any census, but she is listed as ROBERTS, in Census: 1860 Suwannee co., Fl; 1880, 1885 Prec. 2, Lk. Butler, Bradford Co., FL and 1910 Suwannee Co., FL HH of grandson, Thomas Platt. She was in the HH of granddaughter, Lydia Ann Platt Ellison (mother was Susan Elizabeth Roberts) at time of death. My mother (Eva I. Ellison Cumbie)was b. 1911 and she remembered caring for Dorcus when mother was a child. She isn't in 1920 Census so figured she died 1915-1920. Have no more info on POLK except her father was b. England and mother, SC.

i am descended through arthur morgan cadle, who i believe to be your luther's brother. we think his parents are robb and julian as well, but we can't find anything to prove it. i know there's a census with robb and julian that has luther on it, and a different one with arthur and julian living with a different family.

can you give me any further information on this family? do you know anything about arthur? have you since found anything farther back than robb and julian? i am diligently searching and will gladly trade info with you if i find anything.

The Speedville I know of is in the southeast corner of Bradford County, just west of Keystone Heights. I do not know of a town of this name in Putnam County. Speedville used to be called Brooklyn; the name changed in the 1940s, so you won't see Speedville on old maps.

The John Higginbotham I have listed was a John Higginbotham Parmenter and died as an infant. William R Glisson who married Ann Margaret Victoria Graham was married earlier to Rachel L Driggers and I have no info on their children. William and Ann Margaret probably had no children. do you know if he was married to a Ruth Allen from Jasper, Florida?

You also mention William R. Glisson, do you know if he has a son
by the name of Albert Glisson and he married a Susan Allen?

I am Linda J Griffis and I was just wondering if you have any info on Easter, 1887 - before 1935; Louise, 1890 - UNK; they were in the household of James and Melinda Norman/Starling Griffis I cannot find them on any census records either. But then I never found my Aunt Selma who actually is my cousin but she told me she wasn't my aunt,but Grandpa James and Grandpa Melinda did raise her. I do not know who Easter married. Louise married FNU Johns.

Also, do you happen to have any info on Miriam Griffis, Dec 19 1911 -1990? She is the daughter of Mack and Ollie Sapp
Griffis. She married Clyde L Clark, no dates for him. And lastly, who does Toby or Tobie Griffis belong to? Uncle Mack and Aunt Ollie or Miriam?
