Hello,
I went to usgenweb.org, to the Letcher County, Ky. page and it does list William and Hannah's marriage as 8 Jan 1846. It also has Lucy and John Huff listed being married there in 1867, but no day or month.

Jesse

Hello,
I just looked up some family trees on Ancestry for William Amburgey and they had His marriage as 8 Jan 1846 in Letcher Co., Ky. to Hannah Bentley.
So Letcher County is obviously Lucy's birthplace.

Jesse

Hello,
I did some looking on Ancestry.com at the census' and found them.
They were in Millers Creek, Estill Co., Ky. in 1870 and 1880. On the 1870 they lived next door to William Amburgey and on the 1880 they were 2 households away from William Amburgey. This is no doubt Lucy's parents. She is listed with them on the 1860 census in Letcher Co., Ky. William Amburgey was born 1821 in Virginia. Lucy's mother was named Hannah and born 1823 in Ky.
All the census' I seen had John Huff born 1848 in Virginia and not 1860 in Ky. Lucy was born 1847 in Ky.
I will look some more and let you know if I find anything.
I hope this is what you were searching for.
I'm not related to the family, just helping out.
Jesse

Thank you for your help, but I'm the one that posted the info on find a grave. I finally received John Swearingen's death cert, and it states he was buried at the county farm in St. Joseph County, Indiana, but I am unable to locate that cemetery.

Another issue on his death cert is his parents. It list his parents as Burton Swearingen and Mary Cox. And the informer of the information was Sarah Swearingen. The problem with this info is that John's grandparents were Burton Swearingen and Mary Cox, and His father was also a Burton, But was married to Sarah Dashnaw. Now if Sarah Swearingen was the informant of the information, then apparently she is not John's mother, but I know Mary Cox is not either, so who was his mother? He was born in Rossville, Shawnee, Kansas 17 Apr 1878 and died 4 Oct 1902 in South Bend, IN of small pox.

So what I need now is marriage info for Burton Swearingen born in 1849 michigan and died 1913 South Bend, Indiana.
Hi. I'm looking for any info regarding Charles Lynn Gunn. We believe he was from around Evansville (remote chance it was Evanston). Some documentation has him born 9-21-1867. However different dates also have been mentioned, possibly as early as 1862. He may have had a sister and may have left home as a young boy under questionable circumstances.
He died in 1920 in New Mexico after having lived in Oklahoma and Texas (Grayson County) where he married Eliza Fletcher in the late 1890's.
Thank you.
Darrel Gunn
darrel6@gmail.com

Searching for info on Samuel or Jane McDonald

I have been given a stack of family photos (I'm guessing they are family photos) with no names attached except for a photo of Samuel McDonald taken at the J. Schlesinger's Photograph Gallery at No. 6 Second Street, Evansville Indiana. I also have a tin-type of a young woman. The name on the back is Jane McDonald. I have no idea where it was taken. I'm guessing early 1800s.
Any ideas or suggestions? How do I identify all of the people in these photos? Suggestions??

Here are the family trees and contact info I found regarding who might be your Levi Briggs & Lelia Mae (Andrews) Briggs. You might try emailing them directly to see if they will share their info - listed most recent to oldest updates:

Earllyn's Collection - Earllyn Smartt (earllyn1@gmail.com)
Last updated Feb 3, 2009

Keith Family Files 2009 - Jacqueline Drew (drewjunk@hotmail.com) Last updated Sept. 8, 2009

The Browns of Priesthill - Sam Gibson (flyingshottsman@yahoo.com) Last updated July 5, 2008

Other than the update dates, there is no way to tell if the emails are still current. So if you need further assistance, I have access to Ancestry.com so I would be more than happy to help you search for info on your family. You can email me direct at sprung6@comcast.net...................Karen
I have done some searching for you and found the following:
(I am not related and do not live in IN.)
I'm not sure what you have so will send all I found:

William David Midkiff was born 15 Oct 1871 in Monroe, IN.
He died 26 Oct 1912 and is buried in Vincennes, Knox Co. IN.
1910 he was in Knox Co. Wm. D. Midkiff, age 38 Hired man on Farm.

He married Joanna (Joan Fish (her first marriage) Robinson
or Roberson 26 Dec 1896 in Knox Co. IN 19 Mar 1844.

Isabel Greentree married John Hedge in Knox Co. IN 6 Jan 1875 and was widowed by 1880 census date.

I feel fairly sure that Joanna/Joan's name was also Josephine.

In my Indiana Birth Index I found male birth 6 Jan 1909 to Wm.D. Medcalf (misp) and Jo Ann Robinson in Knox Co. IN.

Found female birth 1 Feb 1904 to Josie Robinson and William D. Medcalf. (misp)

Found marriage for Joan Midkiff to E.P. Potter 18 Apr 1914 in Knox Co. IN.

IN 1920 I FOUND CHILDREN WITH MOTHER WHO WAS MARRIED TO POTTER. KNOX CO. IN VINCENNES
EVERETT POTTER AGE 30
JOSEPHINE AGE 37
FRANK MIDKIFF- STEPSON AGE 15.
THERE WERE ALSO OTHER CHILDREN LISTED (INCLUDING HELEN)
YOU CAN SEARCH CENSUS FOR IT.
My great uncle Dr. David Midkiff(Medkiff) died in Indiana(Probably Lawren(Monroe) county Ind. Also his son William David(married three times0 he died in 1912 and is buried in Vincennes Indiana. There was four children born to Wm and Joan Robertson(Jesse F., Helen Grace, Norvella(I have info on her) I don't know the other. Their grandmother ended up with them but I don't know which one. This is so difficult as I search census and a lot of letters back and forth with almost no info. Indiana is very difficult to deal with. Thanks!!! LKoonse@gmail.com
