I have been struggling with the Elliotts for some years. Your George W. Elliott is listed as family #477 in the 1850 LaRue County census. Number 480 is my great great grandfather, John Smith. Note that J. L. Elliott is included as a family member. John Smith's daughter, Rachel Smith married Charles Elliott and their son was James Logan Elliott.

John Smith's son, James Samuel Smith married Susan Elizabeth Elliott. Susan Elizabeth was a daughter of Jacob Elliott and I have assumed that there must be a relationship between Jacob Elliott, Charles Elliott and your George W. and but I have not found it.

The 1850 census also lists Susan Elliott, age 80 with George's family. His mother?
