Hi Mr. Paul,

Mike and Vashties grandson, Millard kirk, has just had his book published, which the info for it is on my tree. He went to WV state archives and pulled Vashtie Horns obit so he could have it printed in his book. It, along with our family records, has her date of birth as 1-1-1856, and is how I have it listed in my tree. You can find it listed under Mrs. Mike Horn. Thought you would like to know being you do alot of research for people.

My great grandmother was Mary Jane Kirk Moore. She married Johnny Moore. My grandfather was Jessie Moore and he had 3 children by Myrtle Hinkle Copley. My dad was Andrew Moore. Anyone familiar with this line? I just found out my great grandmother was a Kirk, I had originally been told she was a Moore by maiden name as well, but this is not true. She had family on the W.VA. side as well.

Hi, I've been away from ancestry research for some time and just happened to look at message boards and found your post.

My father, John was born in Inez, Martin County, KY (16 Jul 1927). His parents were John H Hale (born 23 Jan 1889 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, KY) and Mary Elizabeth Cooper (15 Aug 1888 in Lick Creek, Magoffin County, KY).

I see in your family list Maynard and Hale. Are you related to the Hale family that is shown in the 1860 Magoffin County, KY census, with the head of house as John Hale and wife as Lovina Stone? There were two hale families in Magoffin County during the 1860 census; my Hale family line whose head of house was John and his wife Sarah (Fawbush) and the Hale family line whose head of house was John and his wife Lovina. I don't know if the two families were related, would you know if they were relatd, or do you have any info on my Hale line?

My gg grandfather John Hale was born in Virginia about 1815, in either Grayson County, Washington COunty, or Wyhte County. I do not have any proof of his birth date or birth place or whose his parents were. The John Hale whose wife was Lovina Stone was born on Floyd County, KY about 1818.

#1 Has the Martin County Historical & Genealogical Society published a second volume on this series? Are there still copies of the first book available?

#2 I am wondering how I can get in touch with the original owners on two pictures that I found in this wonderful book. My wife's mother is a Hardin and I am trying to get copies of the original pictures so I can present these to her. I am looking for the following pictures.

Page 39, upper left, has her grandfather, Harvey Hardin, who died in Colorado in 1942.

Page 49, top, has her mother, Alice Hardin, who died in Ohio in 1991.

I would like to know if these pictures are available so I can scan these at 1200 DPI.

My great grandfather was - John Hale, born about 1853-1855 in probably Perry County, KY. He is shown as living in Magoffin County, Kentucky in the 1860 census. My great grandfather's parents were - John Hale and Sarah Fawbush. I'm stuck trying info on John and Sarah, my great grandfather's parents.

Alta Casada was my Grand Mother. She was one of three Daughter Pryor had during his marriage to Alta. The other two sisters wer Flora and Lorlee. There were at least four Brothers born during this marriage. They were Herman, Albert, Red (nick name) and Couch (Don't know any other name for him). The Brothers are all dead now. Flora and My Mother Marie are also dead. Lorlee is still living in a nursing home in the Dalles Orgon. She is 95 years old now.

Flora married Joe Salyer. They settled in Knox, IN and lived most of their lives there. My mother Marie married Bazz Allen and they lived most of their lives in Knox also. Bazz nd Joe worked on the Nickle for the most part of their working years.

Marie and Bazz had five children, Me James,Edwin, Ronald, Joyce. and Elevin. Edwin and I, are all that remain of our family.

Flora and joe had five children also. They are Melvin,Jauntia, Delorse,Larry and Marion. Melvin passed away in late 2006.

I learned from reading post on this site that alta Died in 1916. Pryor married Lora shortly after alta's death. She died not too long after that.

I'm not sure when he married Ursle. I remember us going to Marshal Michigan to visit them when I was 7 or 8 years old. Pryor lived with us and Flora's family in his later years.
They had several children. I'm not too family with their names.

That is about all I can remember. If you find out any more I would like to hear from you.

Call the Martin County Fiscal Court and ask them. They may be able to help you. They have a list of cemeteries. This might help you.

Sorry I have been out of searching for infomation on the family for health reason, had a knee replacement last Jan. and now I am tryinig to get back with it.
I am still searching for more infomation on William Copley.
His wife Jane Marcum, is William H. Marcum her father? and you you have a copy of death records for any of them.
My aunt Tina Maynard, Lilly's Copley Maynard, daughter had a picture on her wall, I think it was Mollie and Elias Kazee, not sure, about the first names. My cousin Marie pprobably has it now.

I am trying to find out who:Howard,Billie Gene 03/13/1934-04/11/1937,is.This child is buried in the Hale family Cemetery,Stevens Branch and none of the living family members know if the child is male or female,or who this child belongs to.There have been many stories passed along but no-one seems to really know.At one time the child was said to have been buried there by his father Tony Howard.Any help i can get would be great.I do not have the accesses to web sites to look this up.

It appears that these two were married. I have found his death record and it shows he's a widow. I have found her death record and it shows the informant was a Alfred Setser and that would have been John's Dad. John was also shown in the 1920 census living with his parents as a widow. I can not find the marriage record though to prove this. She died in childbirth on 6/1/1919. So they would have been married in 1918 I'm guessing.

I did a search in Ky Death Records and the only Setser that comes up that died in 1940 in ANY County in KY is
John B. Setser

She was buried in the Delong Cemetery near Debord Kentucky. Roland is buried there as well. I checked the records for Nathan and that doesn't appear to be Roland. All we know is that she died after being struck by a automobile. So we thought for sure there would even be a newspaper article or something similar but there wasn't.

We are also trying to find out information about Roland Setser's eldest daughter with his first wife Nancy Birchfield Setser. All we know is that her name was Elvie and that she died when she was very young. She would have been born between 1904/1905 as the next child was born in August 1906. According to the 1910 census, Nancy had given birth to 3 children but only 2 were still alive. We were told Elvie died to falling in a large vat of water that was outside. This was in Martin County too but we can't find any info on her either.

Definitely a mystery when it comes to both Minnie and her stepdaughter.

Census Records - Townships
U.S. Federal Census records are divided into groups by state, then county, and in many cases by township as well. Searching the census records by township allows a researcher to see their ancestor in context of their closest neighbors. You may learn additional information about your ancestor by observing their neighbors over a succession of several years.
Other townships in 1920
Emily, John Davis, Lick Branch, Long Branch, Meat House,
Peter Cane, Stafford Fork, Turkey,
Warfield (there are Kazee's buried in this county also)

It is possible the Kazee's are buried on private land,
(their own homestead/property and haven't been inventoried as yet_)
I would write to the nearest Genealogy Society and find out if they have a list for the cemetery in Inez..(sometimes they are published in Genealogy bulletins and not available on the internet)

Oliver Kazee, Jeremiah Kazee, Kazee Cemetery

I am trying to find out any information on Jeremiah Kazee, his son Oliver Kazee and the possible whereabouts of a Kazee Cemetery in or near Inez.

Jeremiah was born about 1816 in Va. and died some time after 1880. He is last shown on the 1880 Martin County Census and I assume he is buried somewhere in Martin County. Any help in finding his burial site would be appreciated.

Oliver was born about 1847 in Ky. and died May 3, 1923 in Martin County, his death certificate states that he was buried in Inez, but does not specify which cemetery.

Oliver was my great grandfather on my father's side. My father is still living at the age of 83 but has never known where his grandfather or great grandfather were buried. It would please him to know and visit them someday if anyone can help.

I found a Mollie Kazee that was married to Elias Kazee (Elias was my great grandfather Oliver Kazee's brother). Her parents were William Harrison Marucm b/Springfield Illinois and Sarah Thompson b/Pike County Kentucky. I found a coupy of her death certificate, her birth date on the certificate was written down wrong, it has her dying in 1944 and being born in 1945, it almost has to be 1845. Hope this helps.

My great grandfather's name was Willie Music, the son of John Newton Music and Margaret Sesco. The Willie that I am related to was married first to Mary Isabel Chaffin, their daughter Sarah (Sallie)is my grandmother. My grandmother was born on Chaffin's Branch at Hode, Ky. Isabel died when my grandmother was 2 years old and her maternal grand parents raised her, James and Sarah Mosley Chaffin. There is not much more info to add to that, only that I found John Newton and Margaret in the 1900 and 1920 Martin Co. Census. Willie later married again but I am not sure to whom, only that they had at least two children, maybe more. I would be glad to share what I have if you think it may help you out.

Williams / Maynard Families

Looking for my Gr-Grandfather and Gr-Grandmother's ancestry.
Lon C. Williams and Margaret Maynard.

They had a son; Ulysses (Ulisses, Ulissus) Grant Williams, born in Martin county and married America Ratliff from Pike County. I can find no reference other that their marriage is listed in Mingo County, WV and the license said that Ulysses was born in Martin County, KY.

This is the closest I've been to finding my Gr-Grandparents, and I figured since thier son was born in Martin County, they may have been from there as well.
