Memorial services for Thomas E Webster, 61, of Hopkinsville, will be held a 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Maddox-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Webster died at 1:24 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.

Webster was born Aug. 10, 1948, in Elkhorn, Wis., to the late Clarence Webster and and the late Ruth Faust Webster.

A farmer and a member of New Palestine Baptist Church, Webster also retired as a CW4 from the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, Webster was preceded in death by his first wife Carlene Webster.

Survivors include his wife Faye Webster, his sons Michael Webster of Bowling Green, Craig Byers of Earlington, Ky., and Charles Byers of Pikeville, as well as his daughters Laura Shelton of Cadiz, Kathy Beymer of Hopkinsville, Megan Gilbert of Frankfort and Mary Spanner of Evansville, Ind.

He is also survived by his brother Carl Webster of Silvis, Ill., his sisters Thelma Potton of Detroit, Mich., Margaret London of Clinton, Wis., and Laura Davis of Minneapolis, Minn., as well as 18 grandchildren Mason Shelton, Layne Shelton, Jonathan Beymer, Karalyn Beymer, Eli Gilbert, Carly Gilbert, John Thomas Gilbert, Isaac Gilbert, Bradley Webster, Anabeth Webster, Josiah Spanner, Cody Byers, Mason Byers, Cade Byers, Merrick Byers, Karigan Byers and Madison Byers.

He worked for Texas Gas, was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Robert F. Samples, 65, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at his residence.

He was born December 24, 1943, to the late Omer and Melva (Majors) Samples. Robert Samples, loving father and husband, died after a long hard fight with an illness.

He was a kind and loving father that never knew how to mistreat or have malice toward anyone.

He loved being with his family and helping others that were in need. His passions were his family, going to his beloved land in Kentucky, spending the day walking in the woods and driving his concrete truck before he retired. He retired from Evansville Concrete after a sudden accident on the job in 1994.

Our father and number one brother were always bigger than life to those that knew him. He was a man that felt life had something to teach us every day. His gentle way and smile will be missed, but the things he instilled in us all will go on.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dianna; son, Robert; daughter, Kishianna; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alexander, Theodore; adopted daughter, Margie A. Barnett and her 3 daughters. Brothers, Roy W. Samples and Mark T. Samples; and sister, Mary J. Jones, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Melva (Majors) Samples, and a brother, Joseph Samples.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. Burial will be held in Onton Cemetery, Onton, Kentucky.

Friends may visit 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Evangeline Cain, 93, of Cadiz, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at King’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at Trigg Memory Acres.

Cain died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at her residence in Cadiz at 3:30 p.m. of a short illness.

She was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Cadiz to the late Roy Jones and the late Tippie Lois Sanders Jones.

Cain was the oldest member of Canton Baptist Church, and was retired from Trigg County Hospital after 39 years as the hospital’s dietician.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Carl J. Cain, her son Ronnie Cain, her three brothers Edward, Lofton and Alton Jones and her sister Evaline Pittman.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, James Harold and Nelda Cain of Benton, her daughter in law Christine Cain of Cadiz, her four grandchildren Tony and MaryAnn Cain of Melber, Ky., Craig and Kim Cain of Benton, Brett and Connie Cain of Cookeville, Tenn., and Cyndi and Douglas Broyles of Gainesboro, Tenn.

She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren Jay, Clayton and Brooke Cain of Melber, Ky., Justin and Zach Cain of Benton, Alex and Ashley Cain of Cookeville, Tenn., and Peyton and Morgan Broyles of Gainesboro, Tenn.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Hook.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Brenda Faughn of Madisonville; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Eddie Parish of Madisonville; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery near Hanson, Ky. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville will be in charge of arrangements.

Linda (Buente) Berger, age 91, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Berger had worked in the cafeteria at Mater Dei High School and later at Grandy's. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and a former member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Prior to living at Little Sisters, Mrs. Berger had volunteered her time there.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Covey and her husband, Stan, of Crawfordsville, Ind.; her son, Rex Berger of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; brother, Clarence Buente of Evansville; and her granddaughter, Tara Covey of Crawfordsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Berger in 2002, and three brothers, Leroy, Edwin and Melvin Buente.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14, at Little Sisters of the Poor, Rev. Gregory Chamberlain officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Dorothy Broderhausen, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born February 3, 1921, in Evansville.

Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt and a graduate of Central High School. She was a past 4-H leader and center volunteer, where she helped cook food for the Fair. She was a past member of the Extension Homemakers Club and Boy Scout Leader. She helped her husband farm and was a member of the National Farmers Organization.

Dorothy and Ed enjoyed traveling to Army Reunions every year and she loved to crochet blankets for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Broderhausen in 1996; brother, Norman Hoffherr; infant sister, Anna Hoffherr; and son-in-law, Bud Schlumpf.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Clyde Broderhausen; daughters, Carol Schlumpf; grandchildren, Mark and Maria Schlumpf; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Beth and Bruce Wright, Suzette Woolsey and Rita Elpers.

Charles "Charlie" Bromm, 64, of Evansville, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009, at Golden Living Center Woodlands in Newburgh. He was born February 23, 1945, in Evansville.

He was a former member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of Northwoods Baptist Church. He retired from B&D Mold in 2002, a company he started in 1972 with his partner, Earl Dunigan. He was a very generous, kind-hearted man and he loved helping his family and other people. Charlie had a great sense of humor. He loved farming, playing golf and being a golf caddy as a young boy and teenager.

Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Bromm; brother, Bob Bromm; and sister, Elizabeth Bromm.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vivian (Perry) Bromm; daughter, Tasha Jossa and husband, Robbie, of Newburgh; brothers, Paul Bromm and wife, Mary, Kenneth Bromm and wife, Dorothy, and Freddie Bromm and wife, Karen, all of Evansville; sister, Norma Hartz and husband, Gene, of Evansville; granddaughters, Katie and Emme Jossa; grandson, Andrew Jossa; sister-in-law, Dianne Bromm; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close family friend Dorothy Oakley.

Maudie L. Gillians, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Heritage Center. She was born March 10, 1921, in Folsomville, to the late Rev. Claude I. and Hazel M. Hunsaker.

She worked for National and Flexsteel Furniture Company as a seamstress from 1949 until 1986. She was a member of Shiloh General Baptist Church and spent 15 years on the General Baptist Freedom Home Mission Board. She was a member of the Cottage Committee of Freedom and the Association of General Baptist Denomination in 1992 and 1993. She was a member of Eastern Star Robert Morris No. 87, White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 14 and Order of the Amaranth.

Maudie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Gillians; and sister, Ruth Barrett.

She is survived by her sister, Anice Barnett of Boonville; 16 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; and her Loving Caregiver, her niece, Oliveen Winfield of Evansville.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Center and Hospice for their wonderful care.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bill Carlisle, with burial at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service at 6:30 p.m., and Monday from 8:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

ASHBYBURG, Ky. — Frances Pauline McCormick Harberson, 78, died Sept. 11, 2009, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.

She retired from Carhartt Manufacturing and was a member of Jewell City Holiness Church.

Surviving are sons, Donald, Ronald and Harold; daughters, Sheryl Benson, Ann Newton, Shelia England and Lesia Reynolds; brothers, James and Richard McCormick; sisters, Sue Underhill, Elsie Chamberlain, Anna Faye McCormick and Thalia Deason; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

SEBREE, Ky. — Louise M. Eastwood of Sebree, Ky., passed away September 7, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Ky.

She was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Webster County, Ky., to the late Jasper and Myrtle (King) Marks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband of 36 years, Lloyd Williams (1968), her second husband of 33 years Fred K. Eastwood (2004), 2 brothers J. D. Marks and Houston Marks, one stepson, Randal Eastwood and son-in-law Emerson Moser.

She was a member of the Sebree General Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Onton Homemakers. She has worked at J.C. Penny in Evansville, Woolworth I Henderson and Kusan Plastics. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.

She is survived by one daughter, Norma Moser of Sebree, Ky.; grandson, Mark and wife, Cheryl Moser, of Sebree, Ky.; grandchildren, Josh Moser of Henderson and Kelly and husband, Nick Manicke, of West Lafayette, Ind.; 2 stepsons, Bradley Eastwood of Henderson, Ky., and Michael Eastwood of Sebree, Ky.; and 5 stepgrandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel in Sebree, Ky. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, Ky. Brothers Rudy Moser and Jackie Rich will officiate.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
