Gladys Johanna Olson died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 at Pine Health Care Centeer in Sandstone. She was 77 years old.

Gladys was born March 24, 1924 in Hinckley Township to Fredrick and Ella Zaudtke. On August 10, 1946 she married Roy Oliver Olson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kroschel. She was a farm wife, housewife, mother, grandmother and friend. She worked beside her husband on the farm. When her children were in school she worked at the Sandstone Locker Plant, Stacy's Pastry and Sandstone Public School as a custodian and kitchen aid. She loved to bake and was always making decorated cakes, mini cupcakes and mints for different occasions. When you stopped by the Olsons or stayed there Gladys always had plenty of good food to eat. She always enjoyed having the family around all year especially deer hunting season and holidays. She loved to play cards especially when she could beat Oliver. During her life she was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid, Grindstone Lake Sewing Club and Kroschel Senior Citizens CareeGroup. She was always busy and she loved God.

Gladys is survived by children David (Sandra) Olson of Isanti, Marlene (Gordon) Althoff of Mora and Daniel (Kerry) Olson of Anoka; grandchildren Krissie and Kevin Myhers, Bethany Olson, Jonathan Olson, brent Althoff and Julie Althoff; sister Lois Haas of Anoka; sisters-in-law Faye Zaudtke of Hinckley. Marion Zaudtke of Toweer, MN, Alphild Starry and Kathleen Russell of Sandstone.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kroschel with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Music was provided by soloist Tim Zaudtke and organist Katie Williams. Casketbearers were Mark Nelson, Jim Nelson, Duane Zaudtke, Ralph Zaudtke, Stanley Sjodahl and Rick Dosch. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery.
