Hi Janet, Tried to e-amil at the address you gave--it was returned---hope you see this response----
My g.g.grandmother was Lavina "Vinney" Huntley b. 1770 & of Anson Co., NC. She mar. Thomas Watts in Anson Co., & one of their daughters, Mary Watts,b. Sept. 21, 1797, NC-- mar.[abt. 1816] Isaac Lewellen b. April 12, 1795 Lanes Creek, Anson Co., NC.
Do you have Virgil W. Huntley's book, "Thomas Huntley, Sr. of Anson Co., NC"?
There is alot of Gulledge Family info in this book. [pub. 1988]
My interest is through the Watts line above---------one of Lavina's sisters, Zilpha, b. NC in 1767, mar. Rev. Joel Gulledge, b. 1770--d. 1861 [age 91] & the son of William Gulledge & Barsheba Watts------- am intersted in the connecction, if any, between my Thomas Watts & Barsheba Watts.
Mr. Huntley's book lists Joel Gulledge as a Farmer & Baptist minister. It is believed Joel & the father of Isaac Lewellen, being Jesse Lewellen, organized the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1833, on Brown Creek in Whitestore Township. Church records state Jesse Lewellen was called as the 1st Pastor of this Church. All of the founding members came out of the Lanes Creek Bapist Church, which was one of the oldet churches in that area. [one of the founding members at Mt. Olive was Lavina Huntley Watts]
Be sure & read any info on the Anson Co. page of the US GENWEB about the Redferns, Gaddys, & Flakes------they all connect with the Gulledge Family. Also anything about Whitestore Township--Schools Churches.
If you would like Virgil Huntley's address, will send it---he may still have copies of the book for sale. Hope this info is helpful.
