Classification: Query
Surnames: KELLY, KELLEY, GIBBONS
Seeking information on KELLYS of Kingston that may be related. I do not have any
confirmed connection but here is what I know.
Catherine GIBBONS KELLEY wife of John KELLEY is my gg-grandmother. She was born
in Mace, Aughagower parish, County Mayo about 1850. She married John KELLEY,
born in Knockrooskey, Aughagower Parish, County Mayo in December 1838, between
1866-67. They emigrated to America between 1867-69. The family settled in
Sebastapol.
John died in 1893 and Catherine died on June 30, 1910. The couple had 10
children, all but one born in America. The children lived in Sebastapol and
Jenkins Township.
According to Catherine's obituary her pallbearers were her nephews: Patrick
KELLY, John KELLY, Michael KELLY, William KELLY, Michael KELLY and William KELLY
all of Kingston, suggesting John had brothers who lived in Kingston.
As to the spelling, I have seen it spelled both ways but the baptismal records
at St. John's for the children of John and Catherine spelled it KELLEY.
Thanks,
Jerry
