Joseph A. Zalesak, 86, of 15 W. Abbott St., Lansford, died Jan. 1, 2007, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Helen Blasko Zalesak. They were married for 58 years in September. Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Valencik) Zalesak. He last worked in maintenance at Silberline, Lansford, and previously for Diversified Metals, Hometown. He served in the Army in World War II as a Pfc. in the 132nd Combat Engineers heavy equipment operators Division in the Pacific. He served in the CCC Camps, 1938-39. He was a member of St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Lansford. Survivors: Wife; daughter, Clare Vadyak and her husband Michael of Tamqua; brother, Thomas Zale and his wife Dolly of Allentown; four sisters, Rose Fornasar in Georgia, Mildred Navitsky of Coaldale, Theresa Wojcik in New York, Anne McAllister in Hawaii; nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael Zalesak, Stephen Zalesak, John Zalesak and Frank Zalesak, and two sisters, Mary Light and Agnes Zalesak. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, Skrabak-Parambo Funeral Home, 210 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Lansford. Call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Wake Service Wednesday evening. Military interment, St. Michaels Cemetery, Summit Hill.
