My ggggrandfather was Ezekiel Smith, who was part of the Mier Expedition in Texas' fight for independence from Mexico. His family Bible is housed in the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, and is too fragile to be handled or photo-copied, but about twenty years ago one of the librarians at The Library, Daughters of the Republic of Texas at the Alamo, sent me a typescript of the contents. Some of the people mentioned in the Bible are descendants of Germanna families. (My father was allowed to see and touch the Bible.)
