Avdy (not Audy!) Andresson was non-commissioned officer of Estonian cavalry during Estonian War of independence and also during the period of Estonian independence.
In 1928 he was awarded silver pocket watch by the Minister of War. He was also active on horse-breeding in this period.
He was promoted German captain of cavalry during the WW II.
He was appointed Minister of War in exile April 3, 1973 and promoted colonel February 24, 1973. I do not know, when he became commander-in-chief.
In 1970s he organized global Estonian Defence League, but evidently his efforts were not effective. This was the most active period in activities of Estonian government in exile.
He was from March 1 - June 20, 1990 eldest living member of Estonian government in exile and thus technically acting for prime minister.
His promotion caused a dispute among Estonians in exile because he was not an Estonian officer but only NCO, and he missed out ranks of major and lieutenant-colonel.
