Hello Jennifer, Our family came from France in 1785. The name Ayo is Spanish but we are French. The name was changed in New Orleans when our 8 generation grandfather got married. I have probably the largest database on the Ayo Family. Also there are three different Ayo families in the USA. One Family in Tx & Ca (Aiosi was the original name). Then the Ayo's from Fla.(the spanish Ayos). The original spelling of our name was Ayaud, our grandfather was a french sailor on the ship L'Amitie which sailed to New Orleans in 1785.
