Cammel Carver was born abt 1798 in NC and married Mary (Polly) Davis here in Blount Co, TN in 1822. I can only find 2 sons of Cammel & Polly but suspect there are several more children. Thomas Carver born abt 1822 married Elizabeth Hatcher in 1845. They had 8 children=Nancy Jane Carver born abt 1846, Campbell Carver-abt 1851, Mary Carver-abt 1853, Emiline Carver-abt 1856, Margaret Carver-abt 1858, William Carver-abt 1860, Thomas Carver-abt 1863 and Sherman Carver-May 1865 (died: 31 Oct 1930) Cammel was living in 1880 at age 82 in McMinn Co, TN with wife Mary (Polly) Davis-age 72 in the home of son Cornelius C. Carver-age 57 and his 3rd wife Elizabeth-age 38. Cornelius and Elizabeth had their small children=Floyd Carver-age 4, Colonel Howard Carver-age 2 and Cordie Carver-age 1 as well as 4 children=James Brownlow Carver-age 13, Caroline Carver-age 12, Caldonia Carver-age 10 and Ellen Carver-age 8 from Cornelius previous marriage to Mary Jane Thompson living with them. Cornelius and Elizabeth had 3 more children after 1880=Judge Inion Carver-1881, Omi Carver-1882 and Robert Taylor Carver-1884.
The way Cornelius' will was written-it appeared the children from Elizabeth & him were the older ones-They were the younger ones. Cornelius' older children were from his 1st wife Margaret J. Malcolm=Campbell Alexander Carver-born 1847, Mary Ann (Polly) Carver-abt 1848, Margaret E.(Peggy) Carver-abt 1849,(Mary & Margaret may have been twins) Andrew Jackson Carver-1850, Thomas Carver-abt 1851, George Carver-abt 1854 and Cornelius Carver-abt 1856. The next older children were from his 2nd wife Mary Jane Thompson all listed above except Hetty Carver who was born 22 Nov 1863 and at 17 in 1880 had already left home. Three marriages and 18 children-all the children listed in his will. CC's oldest son Campbell Alexander Carver is buried here in Blount County with his wife Thurzy Catherine Walsh and most their 12 children buried around them in Salem Church Cemetery. Andrew Jackson Carver married Sarah A. Brown and had 7 children and is buried with Sarah at South Liberty Cemetery in McMinn Co, TN. James Brownlow Carver died in Washington DC in the early 1950s and my father and all my aunts and uncles received $100 from his estate. Apparently he had no immediate family and forgot about his 17 half-brothers and sisters. My grandfather Henry Washington Carver-born 1874 is listed in the bible as CC's youngest child with MJ Thompson. When Henry was 4 yrs old MJ married Wesley Hasting and sometime prior to 1878 Cornelius married Elizabeth. Henry is not in CC's will and sometimes went by Henry Hasting???? My mother is 90 yrs old and remembered Henry saying he only had 1 brother and his name was Brownlow Carver. Henry kept the Carver name and married Sally Elizabeth Caylor. They had 12 children and are buried in Union Grove Cemetery here in Blount County, Tn with most of their children beside them. Note that Thomas and Cornelius were very close snd named several of their kids the same name. Anyone having info on any of the children above-Please respond.
