Hi Werner

My name is Jorge Benítez, I'm from Mexico.

August Nölck (1862-1928), was a great composer and cellist, he served as director of the conservatory in Vienna. His brother, Hans Nölck, was jeweler and had business in Germany, New York and Venezuela.

Precisely in this country, Venezuela, Hans married a lady who surname was Traviesso and had three children: Hans, Conrado and Margarita Teresa. The daughter of Hans, Margarita, married Alfonso Romano Guilemín, of mexican nationality, and had three children: Margarita, Sergio Guillermo and Carmen.

The last one, Carmen Romano Nölck, was First Lady of Mexico between 1976 and 1982. It was wife of President José López Portillo and Pacheco, you can found the biography of him and her on Internet. You are mingled with them!

Greetings,
Jorge

P.S. If you have a doubt, my email is jbenitezmartindelcampo@ymail.com

I have discovered that yes, my Noelck was born Nölck.

This is what I have on the family before coming to the USA.

Johann Christian Friedrick Nölck and his wife, Johanna Maria Sophia Schulz had at least 3 children (from a census I believe that there may be as many as 6 maybe more). The three I know of are:

1. Hanne Caroline Magdalena Nölck b. 1854
2. Joachim Johann Eckard Nölck b. 1857
3. Carl Johann Joachim Nölck b. 1861

Joachim is our family connection. He married Maria Madose (Madaus) in Germany in 1886. They came to the USA a couple years later. We don't know of any of Joachim's or Maria's siblings coming to the USA.

Joachim was born in Wulfsahl, Mecklenburg, Germany.

Hoping you have more information now and will be able to draw some sort of connection. Let me know. Thanks.

I am not sure how I got here, I was trying to search for my father (Fred Luetjens) who skipped out on me and my brother in 1998 when my grandmother (Wilhelmina Luetjens) passed.
She was married to Walter Luetjens who passed in 1992. They were both from Germany, she was from Dusseldorf and he was from Hamburg. They moved to America (Chicago area) in 1952. I was really surprised to find any Luetjens out there other than my family. I was given a little history from my Opa before he passed. If any one is interested or has any info about Fred, please feel free to e-mail.

Dear Amy, When I posted the original message, I was hoping to find someone who knew about the Noelks in Germany. However, apparently no one on this side of the Atlantic knows Grandma's ancestry. However, it would be fun to fill in more information about her brothers and sisters, their children, etc. Maybe you could e-mail me some of this stuff and I will be glad to send my grandma's descendency if you are interested. There's a lot so I will send bits at a time. kimbark604@earthlink.net

Your grandmother is my great grandfather's sister. My mother's father was Elmer Noelck which would be a nephew to your grandmother. I will have to get with my Great Uncle Walter Noelck and Great Aunt Joan who live in Arcadia and see where grandpa or grew up I know my mother said it was in the country by Grey or Manning area. My grandfather had five brothers two of which have passed away. It is very exciting to find people or relatives that we did not know about. The majority of my mother's whole family still live in the area. I will have to find out more information and get back with you. Let me know the questions that you have so that I look and ask for the correct things.

Sincerely,
Amy

We are surely related somehow, I just haven't figured out how yet. My grandma's dad was Joachim Noelck, married to Maria Madose (or Madaus). Maria died at the Wm. Noelck home near Gray, IA in 1944.
Grandma's brothers were:Carl, Wm., August, Henry.
Sisters were: Annie, Bertha, Emma, Minnie, and Augusta.
So many families named their children similarly that it's hard to tell who belongs to whom.

I'm not sure if you have recieved many reply's. I am a Noelck, my mother's maiden name. My grandfather was Elmer Henry Herman Noelck and my great grandfather's name was William Noelck, I can't think of his middle name right now. I talked to my mother and she believes that your grandmother might be my great grandfather's sister. My great grandparents lived in Arcadia area when first married. They are William and Margaret Noelck, they had five boys, Emil, Elmer, Melvin, Walter and William. Then moved to the Grey and Manning area. My whole family is from that area. Please relay.

Can someone please tell me more about my
grandmother's family? Her name was Maria
Noelck, b. 5/5/1893 near Arcadia, IA. She
married William Thies and they farmed near
Denison. Maria's parents were born in Germany,
Does this sound familiar?
