Notes: Mrs. Velma Sowell died Wednesday in St. Alexis Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the H. M. Martin Funeral Home, 3856 E. 131st St. Friends may call there from 8 to 9 tonight. She and Thomas Edward Sowell were married in 1958. She had taught in the Cleveland public school system from 1957 to 1967. She then moved to Central Square, N.Y., where she was coordinator of remedial reading in the public schools. Her health failed and she returned to Cleveland.

Jackson, his wife, Para, and their friend, Ollie Sowell, 48, of Columbus, Ohio were riding together in a car bound southwest on Route 42. It collided with an approaching car, driven by Howard J. Hetzler, 27, of Greenfield, Ohio, on a curve nine miles south of Mansfield, Ohio. Jackson and Sowell were killed instantly, Mrs. Jackson was taken to Mansfield General Hospital with possible skull and rib fractures and cuts. Hetzler and his passenger, Edna Elliott, 34, also of Greenfield, were taken to Morrow County Hospital in Mount Gilead. They received a broken jaw and lacerations, and a fractured leg and broken ribs, respectively.
