My father's name was William Woodard Babridge. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina. Christopher Babbidge appeared in the 1665 list of Massachusetts Freemen as Xtopher Babridge. In later sources you can find various spellings of his last name. I have not yet connected him to my family, however, he is the first Babridge that I can find a record of in this country. I would be interested in knowing what other information you have about him or his descendants. You may contact me by e-mail (

I posted the following message in the Crockett message board: "I have a photo copy of a a photo taken about 1910, on the island of North Haven, ME. The photo lists: Harold Crockett, Suzie Joy Wooster, Dora Dyer, Herman Crockett, Eunice Joy Dyer, Rebecca Leighton Dyer, Rebecca Dyer Crockett, Jane Brown Dyer and Susan Lindsey Brown. I believe this is the Dora Dyer born 1880. Most of the others in the photo can be found in the Dr. William Dyer genealogy WEB site. . Harold (b: 1881) and Herman (b: 1886) Crockett are the sons of Joseph Crockett(d: 1886)and Rebecca Joy Dyer (b: 1861). Harold married Margaret Nicholle (m: 1916)from Halifax. Joseph was a ship captain. I am looking for the names of his parents, siblings and???" I received the follwing reply: "Parents were Hiram Harvey Crockett and Rebecca Babbidge."

Having just discovered and seeing your inquiry, I have all the information on the Babbidge family dating back to Devon England and the arrival of Christopher in Salem, Massachusetts in 1651.
