Reg, I may be able to help you. I have history of the Gobeils going as far back as 1652. Wilfrid Goeil born 2/3/1886 married Maria Lafleur born 4/24/1887. They gave birth to Joseph Gobeil born 3/3/1925 the place is unknown to be but somewhere in Canada. Could this be your connection? Lets communicate. Marc Gilmet

Marcellin was my great grandfather. He and Rosalie Blais were married at St Victor, Beauce, Canada. They moved to CT and I have that he died in Moosup, CT. I have written to the City Clerk there and also All Hallows Church - nothing. I know relatives lived in Jewett City in the early 40s.Anxious to hear from you as we are going to CT in a few weeks and would love to find their burial place. Monique I am new at this internet stuff so hope it will go thru.

I spoke to a Priest from that area yesteday. He said there are a lot of small towns around Moosup. I have a photo of Marcellin and Rosalie. There was a family of Oakes related to us in that area as I went with my parents when I was young - 1940 about.
My grandfather is Balaam Gobeil. I will be in Mystic Ct for a wedding on Sept 16th and hoped to find Marcellin's burial?

Do you have any info on the subject. He died in 1652 in Trois Rivieres Quebec and was born in 1610?

This message is for Reg
I Believe that your grand-father Joseph Gobeil might have been my grand-father Georges' brother. I remember my mother talking about relatives from Noelville. Did he have a daughter named Emma who married Yvon Richard?
