My grandmother was Florence Hege from I think Winston-Salem, NC. She married Percy Charles Kiser and they had two daughters. My mother, Nellie Sue Kiser and I don't remember my aunts name. She died at a very young age, as did my grandmother. Florence was born in 1881. If you have any information please let me know.
Thanks,

My great-grandfather was Norman Keeling Hege, he married Mateal Parsons. He was from Winston-Salem, she was from West Jefferson. They had a son, Norman Hege, Jr. He married Kathleen Woodie. Both were born in West Jefferson around 1924. They had 3 children, Steven K Hege, Linda Hege Gordon and Michael K Hege (my father). Please let me know about anyone else you may know of, my family is very interested in finding the rest of the family. I do know that there are a lot of us still in Winston-Salem. Thank you.

I am from Davidson County NC. I have always been told that we were Swiss-German.

It is my understanding that there are 2 lines of Hege's.

The Forsyth County Hege's are from Germany.
The Davidson County Hege's are Swiss-German

I will be going to Lexington soon and hope to find some more information.

Any comment will be greatly appreciated. Than you in advance.

Betty, if you are from Davidson Co., NC., then I am sure that you have sen the Davidson County Heritage Book that was published in 1982. It has been a world of information for me. Hege,Hage,Hagey,Heagy,Hagee as well as Haga, beleive it or not, are just some of the spellings of our family name. Most of the family who still spell their name Hege originated in Forsyth Co., and descend from Johann Balthazar Hege. The ones who decend from Johan, down thru George spell theirs in so many of the other ways. Johan is my ancestor. They are of Swiss/German. I have been researching for over thirty years, and I have found it spelled so many ways, even in a single family. I started out looking for Hagee, and found out I had a lot to learn. Some one mentioned the book of the Hagey Families of America, published in 1950. If you can find it in a library, you will be lucky, as they are few and far between, and the book is out of publication. If you do find one, it will also be invaluable to you.

Which book do you have, Keith? The Hagey Families of America or the Davidson County Heritage Book? Yes, there were two brothers who came from Germany, and one did stay in PA. and one migrated to NC. There was also another Hege who came to NC. and he and the brother who came to NC. married sisters. I have not documented whether the two men were related, but I am sure that they were, at least by the maternal side of their wives. I see that you spell your name Hege, so I am wondering if you are descended from Balthazar or Hans George. I am descended from Han George, and they had many spellings of the name, Hage/Hege/Hagey/Heagy, and even Haga. Mine eventually became Hagee.
I found you in my information. You are Keith Becker Hege, the adopted son of Oscar Flavius Hege, Jr. and you were born in 1946. Am I correct? So you ARE descended from Bathazar Hege.

As I forgot to say, my Hege/Heeke came from Germany, but they had migrated there from Switzerland first. The father and the two sons. Johann Balthazar Hege came from Hausen, Wurtemberg to Lancaster Co., PA., married in Bethlehem, PA. and then came to NC.
