I am married to Steven A. LaRoe, son of Lloyd C. LaRoe of Albion, Michigan. His father's name was Charles LaRoe. Beyond that, I don't have any information. Additionally, Steve's father did not keep in touch with his extended family. Lloyd grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I would be interested to know any information you might have, as we have often wondered about the heritage behind the name.

I am married to Steven A. LaRoe, son of Lloyd C. LaRoe, son of Charles LaRoe. We reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Steve was born and raised in Albion, Michigan. His father was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he moved to Albion where he and his wife, Emmaline, raised three children. Tammy (LaRoe) Moore, Steven A. LaRoe, and Sherry (LaRoe) Huff.

I would be interested to see any information on your family. My father-in-law did not keep in touch with his extended family. He does not know his grandparents' names.

My great grandfather was Leonard LaRoe, who had 4 sons:
Lewis
Robert
Kenneth
Richard

And one daughter- Ella Mae

Robert died in a plane crash in WWII.
Lewis died in 1979.
Kenneth died last month.
Richard resides in California.
Ella Mae resides in New Mexico.

Leonard raised his family in Toledo, OH. I don't know if he had siblings or even who his parents were.He was married to Faye R. LaRoe, who passed away in 1957. I believe he may possibly remarried after that, but I cannot recall to whom.

I will try to talk to Kenneth's wife Dawn, who is my great aunt and see what she can recall about the family.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the information. I have printed this out and intend to share it with my in-laws on our next visit to Michigan. I'll let you know of any further history I can dig up.
Thanks again!

My mother's maiden name is LaRoe. Her name was Kathryn Vivian LaRoe. Her father was Ira Franklin LaRoe. Frank died in 1972 in Lodi, Calif. He had an uncle still living in IN in the 30's or 40's. I will try to remember to bring the main outline of the family history to include Grandpa Frank's siblings, parents and some other details. Frank was born in Indian Territory before it was Oklahoma in 1890 something. My mother was born in Vinita, OK and the family lived a while in Stone and Izard Counties of Ark before leaving westward in the late 30's - early 40's. Grandma's maiden name was Teague.

My dad is Victor Laroe. He spells it with a small "r", but the rest of the family uses a capital "R". He changed it years ago because he and a brother used the same bank, and they kept depositing in the wrong account. My grandfather was Marchy Caril LaRoe, who for sometime lived in Clay county Arkansas. He died in 1981, born March 15, 1914. It sounds like he could have been related to Ira LaRoe. I would like more information on Ira's relatives. Thanks!

Betty -
My husband's grandmother is Ruth Ellen LaRoe born in Vinita OK, who's parents are Ira LaRoe & Stella (bodine?) Cox. I'm sure this is that same family. I think I've communicated with your brother (?) gerald on this same line.
