Morning Rowena,The West.Aust. mob have an E on the end of Dhu.My husbands side is from Tasmania who later on
came onto the mainland. The W.A.mob originally were Dhu
but due to a family squabble the name was changed to Dhue,
as I have been told.Heffer Dhu and his family migrated from the U.K. to W.A. in 1853.If your local library has the "Western Aust.Dictionaries" the Dhu family is mentioned in them.
Cheers

Hello, I have just started tracing and haven't gotten very far. I can get no further back than grandpa. His name was Ben or Benjamin Dhu. He passed away in 1935 right before Railroad pensions and SS took effect. He either died in Indiana or Illinois. He was married and had a daughter Marylou. His wife passed away and he married Thelma Schroeder. They had children Estelle, Evelyn and Ben (my dad). All have passed away. If you have any clues please let me know.....

May, rumor has it that we are from Scotland and then to Australia probably Tasmania. Could you help me with where to start. I have been searching death records and have come up empty as far as Grandpa goes? He died in about 1935 in the US.

Morning Charlie,
The Dhu name is English,Irish,Welsh,Scottish. The Irish mob came under the Clan Niall or Neil in Ireland from 379 A.D. TO 1030 A.D. I have a privately printed book about them given to me by the author who is now dead. She discovered that they were high chiefs of ireland. This is all very ancient history. Please contact me at my e.mail address if you would like to know more.
Cheers
