Between Röhrigshof and Schenklengsfeld there are only 12 km, the population of both villages is evangelical.

Between Röhrigshof and Lorsch there are about 200 km and your ancestors are roman catholics.

Sorry, but I do not think that there is a connection.

Can you provide more information on the Wiegands who emigrated from Schenklengsfeld to Illinois? I think I have a family that may be related.

To whom it may concern,

I know some of the family but Edward Wiegand was the expert. He unfortunately passed away and I have not been able to get anything from his widow or children.

I will give you everything I have if you can tell me what you are looking for. Johannes Wiegand is my ggg grandfather.

Do you mean Johannes Wiegand, born Schenklngsfeld 1802, died Fosterberg/Fosterburg, Madison Co., Illinois 1881?

What do you know about his life and family?

Johannes and Anna Maria immigrated to the US in 1840. They arrived in Baltimore on board the Dorthea Louise on Aug 11.
The next data is the 1850 census which is attached to a number of family trees. It gives four children. The data is Oct and information in other trees (not confirmed by me) is that Heinrich died in June 1850. This explains his absence.
The 1860, 1870 and 1880 census reports are available in various family trees. No addiitional information is given.
One interesting fact not discussed is that Anna Maria (I think) is in the 1900 cnesus with Peter. The census states "mother" and has the correct birth date but the name is Louisa.
Her obit (I have a copy) gives her maiden name and states she had eight (8) children of which 3 are alive in 1901 when she passed away.
