Hi Andrew,
Do you have an Andrew McQuillan born around 1850 in Belfast in your tree? His father was named Edward. They were both cordwainers (shoemakers) Andrew left Belfast around 1868 and moved to County Durham, North East England.
Any information greatly received as have hit a bit of a stop in my search.

I am trying to find out more about my McQuillan ancestors.. I don't think I have contacted you before... my Ancestors were James McQuillan and Ann McManus marr around 1850 chn Ann 1853, James 1854, Patrick 1857, Anne 1859, John 1861, ANdrew 1863, William 1863, Mary 1866, William 1868 George Joseph 1870. My g grandfather was John 1861 who married Martha Jane McKee 1878 chn: Mary 1883,Ann 1884, John 1884, Ellen 1888, Andrew 1888, John 1891, Martha 1892, John 1894, Margaret Ann 1896, ALex 1900, Joseph 1902, Albert 1905. I would be interested if you are connected throught one of these. Falls Rd,Belfast and Barrow-in-Furness UK are the two connection towns for these families. Cheers

McQuillan, Edward, shoe maker, 24 Pound Street
And others
In 1843
McQuillan, Edward, Shoe Maker, 69 Barrack Street.
McQuillan, John, Boot and Shoe Maker, 9 Peter's Hill.
