I have researched the Brake family for some time now and have accumalated much information on the Brake family from England to America-migrated to Va., NC., and Ga. I do not have information on Brake family from Germany and came to W. Va. I would like to share information with anyone in this line.

I am looking for information about James Jacob BRAKE, who married Anna MUMFORD about 1817 in Hardy, Va. Son was Nimrod See BRAKE, who married Mary Jane CURRY in 1845 in Virginia. Children were Nancy Virginia Brake and James Jacob Brake, b. 1847. If you have any information on this group of Brake's, I would appreciate your help. Nancy Virginia is my great-great-grandmother. Thanks, Pam Parsons

Requested help!

Dear Marian:

I am desperately trying to locate family members of a late "Dr. Ira Fyke Brake" who passed away in 1952.

About 3 years ago, an old man called me and said he found an old military chest in the attic of a house he rented for 40 years. He didn't want to throw it out because is contained military uniforms, hats, pictures, etc. I learned a few things from the articles I found inside....he was a doctor in the San Ausustine County area, married an Opal Owens, recruited in 1942, awarded a Purple Heart in 1944. May have a son J.W. Brake.

I would love to make someone's Christmas by putting these precious things in their hands!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

thank you,
Deborah Brake
daughter of William Bennett Brake

I have some information on James and Anna Brake and son Nimrod but since this is the WV line which is not my Brake line you need to e-mail me privately so I can mail this to you.

One of the most comprehensive databanks for this families' background can be found in Don Norman's files located on the Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants website. There is also much information from David Armstrong from the Allegheny Regional Family History Society. Both groups have documented this family in great detail.

Dear Shelly,

Could you tell me a little more about your Father and Grandfather.....where they were born? who they married? are they still living? do they have any children? What was your mother's name? You're most likely my cousin somewhere down the line...pretty exciting! I desperately want to find a family member and want to make sure this the correct Ira Brake, I have been contacted about a few others but they were not the one I was looking for.
