John Mikula married to Mary Kistacky in the early 1940's, this was his second marriage,
his first wife died, but he had children from the first marriage, he was slovak and was said to swim across some channel to escape to freedom, I do not know the particulars of the story. John had other children in his second marriage:Michael, Betty Ann, Joan, Mary Ellen and Cathy.I am interested in finding the siblings or decendants from the first marriage. Please
contact me if you have any info concerning
any of these people. He lived in Drifton and
Ebervale and Freeland, Pa. Thank You

Lynn: Do you know if John had any brothers? I have a Frank and Albert Mikula who worked in the coal mines around Union City in the early 1900's. They could not locate an older brother who came to the US before they did. Sandy

Dear Sandy,
Yes, I know John had brothers, but I do not know anything about them, as far as I knew they remained in Slovakia, but I don't know for sure, perhaps they did come over later,
I would have to ask his children for sure, but I don't know how much about his family they would even know, I was related to the family through a marriage, that had dissolved many years ago and while searching for my own family relatives,I came across some census info on John, I was going to see if I could find any other info to put together for the younger daughter, for some reason I think he had a brother Joseph, but I'm not really sure, I'd have to get back to you on that. Where is Union County? Do the other brothers have a brother named John who came to this area? Please get back to me,I'd be interested in checking this out further. Thanks. Lynn

Lynn, Thanks for responding to my msg. Albert and Frank Mikula worked in the mines in Union City which is in the northwestern corner of PA. I do not know if there were any other brothers still in Poland.

Albert's parents were John Mikula and Sophia Gorecka. He was born in Rzeszow, Poland in 1881. Sandy

Hello, my name is Jessica Mills, I am doing a report for school on my family tree and I found that it traces back to Mikula on my mother's side. My mother told me that we are related to everyone with the name Mikula and Saintz. My great grandmother's name was Mary Mikula and she originally lived in Europe. If you have any information for me please email me.

My grandfather was Maciej(Macy) Mikula, he was born in 1887 in Glinik, Poland. His parents were John Mikula and Annie Bezak. Family lore hints at the fact that he was mistreated by step-siblings in Poland and was brought to the US by his older sister. Could his father be your John Mikula? Don't know if John's second marriage was before or after Maciej's birth. He married Mary Cyran and had 11 children, died in 1948.

Maureen, Thanks for you reply. I don't believe this is the same John Mikula. The one I have was married to Sophia Gorecka in Rzeszow Poland. Dates don't match either. Thanks again. Sandy

I don't think that your John Mikula is a relative of mine. I believe all my Mikula relatives settled in RI. Although there may have been other siblings I have not yet identified. My John was married to Agatha Bezak and possibly one other person (name unknown) in Swarzow, Poland.
