Thank you for your message! I think I have stumbled into a wonderful world of cooperation and cameraderie by beginning my search into my genealogy. I hope to be able to give some information back! I'm afraid I've lost touch with most of my relatives that could help me trace my Hotrum family tree. However, I will be meeting with one of them this weekend, and will gather as much info as I can. I know that my grandfather, Clifford Joseph Hotrum, lived in and around southwest Michigan. I'm sure he had several brothers, and I'm working on getting those names. He married my grandmother Bernice. They had four children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving were a son, Paul Joseph, and two daughters, Vivian Marie and Jeanette Belle (my mother). Thank you, Sue, for any help you can lend.

Hi Deborah! I too am researching my Hotrum ancestry. My line of Hotrum's is from the southwest Michigan area. I have been checking the census records for that area and do have some information that may help. If your maternal grandfather was a Hotrum, what was your mother's first name? My great-grandfather was David A. Hotrum, he was born in Michigan however his father and mother (David Hotrum and Elizabeth Conkright) were born in Canada. My grandmother was Flossie Hotrum Timm and she lived in the Constantine area. I have only checked the 1880 and 1900 census records so far but with any kind of luck will be checking them further next week. I will keep my eyes open for a Clifford and Charles for you. I have found a "Chas" which could be short for Charles. The reference to him was in a 1900 census record, he was listed as 17 years old at the time. Hope some of this is helpful!

Thank you, Gordon, for your response and the information! I'm quite excited so far! I'm afraid I have literally just begun, so I don't have much info to offer in return. Unfortunately, most of my relatives who would have been able to give names and history have passed on. I know my maternal grandfather's name was Clifford Hotrum, and I have a vague recollection that his father was Charles Hotrum. I also recall hearing that my grandfather's family was from Canada. (We live in southwest Michigan.) That's all I really have so far, but I'll keep checking in and will pass along anything new I might find. Thank you, again.

Hi, There are three of us researching the Hotrum family, from the Canadian end. All roads lead back to pre-revolutionary New Jersey though so we as far as we know today are all branchs of the same tree. By far the most knowledgeable researcher is Dave Naylor. His intersets extend beyond our branch of the family and so wherever you tie in he can probably help. You'll certainly hear from him and you should visit his website, (just do a search for Hotrum). I'll be pleased to share whatever material I have with you. My maternal grand-mother was Evelyn Hotrum and her father was John William Hotrum. They were from Hamilton Ontario, where today there are a number of Hotrums. Just let me know where you tie in and we can go from there. Bye for now, Gordon
