Hello and Happy Holidays Everyone!

I sent this query to the Harmon Board and didn't realize that this site is spelling specific. So I'm resubmitting it to this group in hopes that someone out there knows of my family. Yes, I'm grasping at straws. I've been searching for Clarinda (Harmon/Harman)Miller for along time now. If there are any family members that can claim her, please reply soon. Would love to share what lil bit of info I do have.

Hello Tina,
I noticed you were asking about Adam Harmon of New River Valley. Correct? Is this the same group of Harmons that were at Kings Mountain, NC. in the late 1700's? I'm searching for my ggg-grandmother Clarinda HARMON b. 1828 in Indiana, who is said to be Cherokee.

My research always takes me down to Kings Mountain, with Cutliff and Goulder Harmon. Andrew Harmon who married Sabra Hicks/Hix. And a Cutliff who married a Susan FOUTS. I know for certain that these families were Cherokee.

They used the name of Clarinda in 1850's but I can not find anything on my Clarinda born in 1828. Would you happen to have some information that might help us?

I have searched high and low...
Thanks in Advance,

Fouts/Harmon Connection

Cutliff Harmon 1748-1838 m.Susan Pfouts 1751-1814. Susan came to America when she was 15.Her family was of Swiss decent. Cutliff's parents were George Harmon 1710-1787 and Mary Margert Wiley. George's parents were Johann Michael Harmon1670-? and Kundigunda Regus of Wurmtberg, Germany. This family is credited with bringing the Jack tales to America. The ship they came on was the "charlotte" in 1725 arriving in Philadelphia in January 1726. Cutliff remarried after susans death and is buried between his 2 wives in the cove creek section of Watauga county ,N.C.(have photo). This settlement was begun by Cutliff. He saw the land while helping DANIEL BOONE bring supplies from Yadkin County N.C. to the new Sycamore Shoals settlement in present day Elizabethton,TN.He owned 300 acres and lived in a cave(have photo) until his house was built. It is believed the first white child in the area was born in the cave.

I have recently began to research our family history. My great grandfather was Albert Harmon son of Eli Harmon and Anna Newby, son of Mathias Harmon and Sally Sheets, son of Cutliff Harmon. I have data from Eli forward but very little else. Is this the same Cutliff Harmon you are related to? I am interested in any help you can give me.
Thanks for the time.

I have seen the reference of the Hermann brothers coming to Philadelphia in 1726 aboard the ship "Charlotte", but I have yet to find a document confirming this information. Can you tell me where you found this information?
Cutliff Harman/Harmon and Susan Pfautz/Fouts were my 5th g-grandparents.

We are both researching for the same family. I find this really exciting. I can give you some information about Eli and Anna Harmon. It would be easier for me if you respond to me through my email address.

I'm so happy to find you on this board, I am related by my grandmother's side of the family, seems she was related in two ways, Her mother was Bulah Sadie Harmon, and Bulah's mother was Hester was a Mast, but her Father's mother was Suzana Harmon, who was Cutliff's daughter, But, I have him listed as Mathis Cutliff Harmon, am I totally with the wrong Cutliff? I am very interested in the photos you have, you can email me at, Thanks, Laura Bernal

Surnames: Harmon/Harman

I am also looking for information on Cherokee Harmons in Indiana. My G-G-G grandmother Susannah Harmon, b. 8/19/1844 is said to Cherokee. She was married to Isaac Hammond 01/01/1863 in Orange Co., Indiana. Her death certificate just says her father is C. Harmon. I wonder if my C. Harmon and your Clarinda Harman/Harmon could be siblings. The time frame would be correct. Let me know what you think and/or know about this!
