I knowGertie, Delcie and Fonda and Fonda's daughter. Do you have ANYTHING on their brother Silas?? I think he was married to my great aunt Flora Belle LOugh who died at a pretty young age. She raised my grandmother after the death of their mother and I've always wanted to know more about her.

Does anyone have info on Willy Cogar, Ida Hertha Cogar, Elliot and Julie Cogar. I have searching for any info that may help me with a biographical paper on the Cogar/Brady family.

Silas Cogar was my grandfather and he was married to Flora Lough. They are both buried in the Cogar Cemetery. My grandmother was upset when he died because they did not bury him beside Flora but she didn't know why. Flora died during childbirth of their first child. They baby also died. He later married my grandmother Ida Pear Hamrick. If you'd like to know anything else I'd be glad to help if I can.

I found Aunt Flora's death record and it said she died of consumption. I wonder if she was pregnant and the consumption killed her? Exactly how are you related to Silas? Was your mom a child from his second marriage? DO you happen to have any photos of Flora? I'd appreciate any info you can add to my family. My maiden name was Hamrick-which line does Ida Pearl Hamrick come from?

My mother was Bertie Cogar and yes she was from his second marriage. Ida Pearl Cogar's father was Henry M Hamrick, his father Allen Hamrick and his father Benjamin Hamrick. My grandmother stated that Flora's Dad used to go eat Sunday dinner with them every week but my Mom can't remember him. She said Grandma used to have a picture of Flora but alot of people have went through the pictures and taken alot. We are going to go through them and try to find the picture. I will make a copy and send it to you if we can find it but it may take some time. Do you want one of Silas also? I'm quite anxious to see the picture of Flora myself. Thank you for telling us the cause of death. We thought it was just childbirth. Will do what we can. Would like to keep in contact with you. Thank you so much for responding. Also, didn't Flora have some siblings?

I'd love a pic of Silas, too. Aunt Flora was the oldest of six children of Harmon Snyder and Rachel Columbia Miller Lough. Harmon married again after the early death of Rachel and had six more children. His second wife was Elizabeth A. Fisher.
Her full brothers and sisters were Terissa (Tressie), Emory Patton, Alice Emeline, Luther William, and Ora Leah. Her half brothers and sisters were Minter C., Hansford D., Alpha, Emma Florence, Bessie Jane, and Myrtle Bell. Alpha is still living. Ora was my grandmother. She just passed away in 2002 at age 97. I have a picture of Aunt Flora, her dad, and siblings taken about 2 years after Rachel died and one of all the kids as adults. If you'd like a copy, I'll gladly send either or both of them. There's also one of Harmon and his second wife.
Flora was 10 years older than my grandmother and raised all of the kids after their mother died in 1906. My grandmother told me some stories about life after her mom died. Aunt Lizzie was very good to them and treated them like her own kids, but life before her wasn't to happy. Harmon was a traveling preacher and left them alone alot with limited supplies. My grandmother always wished for her mom and said Aunt Flora was the closest thing she had to her.
