I am trying to locate the graves of my mother's grandparents. All I know is the last name of Leverett(e) and that the cemetery is outside of Whigham towards Climax inside Grady County, and is probably a Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. My GG was buried in the 1920s or 1930s I have been told.

I do not know for sure who the parents of Jasper William (or William Jasper) Leverette are. Jasper William Leverette was born about 1848. I don't know when he died, but believe he is buried in Terrell County, Ga. Nancy (O'Neal) Leverette was born about 1854, & I don't know when she died either, but she is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in an unmarked grave. They were married Oct. 14, 1871 in Terrell County, Ga. Their children that I know of were: James Hamilton (whom I am descended from), William Jesse Jackson "Jack", Mary, Tom, Henry, Josephine, & Walter. William Jesse Jackson "Jack" Leverette was born 2-19-1875 & d. 5-4-1952 & is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery (in Grady Co. or Decatur Co.). Mary was born about 1877. Tom was born about 1880. Walter Leverette was the youngest of the siblings & died about 1990 & is buried somewhere around Tallahassee, Fl. James Hamilton Leverette was born 4-1-1873 in Mitchell County, Ga. & d. 11-12-1951 in Alachua County, Fl. & is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, Fl. in an unmarked grave. James Hamilton Leverette married twice I'm told. He married Lotha Bridges & had two children by her. I don't know the name of his other wife. Hope this might help you.

I am a 7th generation Leverett researcher. Descending from Robert Leverett/Liverett of Lunenburg Co VA in 1766 through his grandson,Stephen b1765VA,d1853SC, son of Thomas b?d1783 Lunenburg Co VA.

Do you know the parents of William Jasper Leverette buried in Grady Co GA (or Decatur Co)? Do you have a record showing the date(s) of Nancy and William's birth, their marriage and respective deaths?

Thank you for considering my request. Would like to exchange information on Leverett family if we connect.

There are some Leverettes buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery which is just about 2 miles south of Climax. I was there this year & found the following graves: William Jack Leverette b. 2-19-1875 d. 5-4-1952, his wife Bertha Leverette Sloan b. 7-10-1907 d. 7-1-1993, Infant of Mr. & Mrs. M.L. Leverette 8-16-1939, M.L. Leverette b. 1-10-1901 d. 6-27-1945, Marie B. Leverett b. 2-2-1901 d. 2-11-1963, & Hubert Everette Leverette b. 11-12-1930 d. 8-4-1981. In the same family plot are also 3 concrete slabs with no names on them. One of these concrete slabs is supposed to be the grave of Nancy (O'Neal) Leverette. She was the wife of Jasper William (or William Jasper) Leverette. They were my gr gr grandparents. Hope this helps. I'm not sure if the cemetery is in Decatur County or Grady County. It would be close to the county line.

Does your Leverette family lines come into the Greene Co., GA area later in 1800's? Connect to Collins, Veasey or Pound, Ivey lines? And do you have Johnson P. Leverette in your line..? Jean in TX

Thank you for responding ! At this time I have not proved a connection to the Leveretts in Green Co GA. I believe that they *are* there.... A William & Bracy Leverett witness Lot Ivey's early 1800 will (if memory serves me correctly).. Is there a Ivey family connection here to Leveretts? I would surely like to know. I am trying to separate the several William Leverett/Liveretts of Wilkes Co GA, in colonial North Carolina, South Carolina and colonial Virginia.

Re Leverett/Ivey/Pound/Veasey/Wingfield...these lines in Greene/Putnam Co.,GA from NC and VA will tie into each other during the generations of those who migrated into GA. Some of these just branched out into other GA Counties...

I have Thompson, Pound, Garner, Ivey, Gay, Veasey, Middlebrooks, Harkness, Herndon...Jean
