I inherited much Caton Family research notes from my grandfather, so although I am just starting out on my own family research, I have quite a bit of information. I am currently looking for documents and additional information to back up and fill in the hole of my research. I would love to share information with anyone who can help me or needs my info. My ancestry starting with my great-grandfather and going back: Clyde N Caton, Francis L Caton, Joshua H Caton, Noah S. Caton, Jonas S. Caton, Jesse Caton, Charles Caton. All replies are welcomed. Thank you.

Richard, I am also a descendant of Joshua H, Noah S. Caton.
My Grandfather was James Lewis Caton, Son of Joshua H Caton and Lucinda Huff. I am trying to trace back from Noah S. Please contact me at:
bp_designs@hotmail.com or Beverlyp31036@cs.com

I have also set up a site for Caton Researchers in MY FAMILY and would love to send you an invitation.

Lots of sharing going on, including photos.

I am really anxious to hear from you.

Hi Richard. I am also a descendant of Noah Simon Caton. His daughter, Roseltha ''Elizabeth" was my great grandmother. Unfortunatley, I know very little about Noah and nothing about his ancestors. Your post is very exciting to find! I would love to know what you have about Noah and his ancestors! I have Noah's birth date as June 12, 1806 according to his headstone at Spring Grove Cemetery in St. Clair Co., MO. Is the Jonas S. you listed, Jonas Sparks Caton, b. 1793, son of Jesse Caton & Esther Sparks? I would be glad to share what I know about Noah's descendants with you. Please contact me at dusenberry5@earthlink.net.

Good luck on your research and happy hunting!

I am searching Nancy Caton, born circa 1813. Married Samuel Ray Jr. on 30 Aug 1832. Settled in Howard County Missouri. There are several Caton Families in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 census records for Howard County, but I cannot link any of these to Nancy. Please advise if there is any connection.

I have a GGGrandfather John Caton in the 1850 Cooper Co MO
Census age 53 with 4 Children Columbus 19, Benjamin 13,
Elizabeth 11, and GGrandmother Ophelia 9.
Land records show John aquiring 160 acres in 1827 and he
shows up in the 1835 Cooper Co Tax records with the 160 acres. According to the 1850 census John was from Deleware.
I would like to trace the family back to Deleware and to check
for other family in Missouri. His wife dosn't show in records.

Hi Beverly
My GGGrandfather John Caton was 53 during the 1850 Cooper County Census so that puts the birthdate at 1803,
the census says he was born in Deleware. Early land records
show John getting 160 acres in 1827 and he shows up in the
1835 tax records as owning 160 acres, all in Cooper County MO. His daughter Ophelia (my GGrandmother) was 9 in the
1850 census, she was married to Eli Elliott at Sedalia MO
in 1861 and emigrated to Oregon about 1866.

I am searching The Caton Line also. Have been for years but
can't get past Grand Father and think his fathers name is
George Caton born about 1800. George Washington was
born in 1828. One record said he was born in Washington DC
Then he moved to Missouri. He married Elizabeth Weir and
they had only one son who died when about 17 years old.
He had daughters but impossible to trace through the Daughters. If you have and George Catons on your line would
love to hear from you. Thanks. Lyola Workman

Surnames: George Caton
Have you come in contact with a George Washington Caton
or a George Caton. George Washington Caton spent most
of his time in Missouri in the same area. He was born in 1828
and his Fathers name was George Caton born about 1800. He
lived first in and around Maryland not much information on that
but said in one record, son George W. Caton was born in DC
and his wife's name was Elizabeth Weir and they only had one son whose name was Wilford and he died while yet a teen.I found George W. and the family lived in Cooper County at one point. From your Query your John and my George were born near same time. If you find any connection please let me know Thanks.
There were severa girls but imposible to trace Caton line there.
Thanks Lyola Workman. lyolaw@oregontrail.net.
