My great grandfather was Thomas, or Tom Belcher of Scott or Russell County,Va. He had a son Abraham,Abe Dingus-born about June 6,1883, died Sept.,1943 at Norton, Wise County, Va. I'm sure I have distant cousins in Nicklesville, Dungannon, Castlewood, Dante-all over SW Virgina and beyond, all the way back to Germany. Help, if you can.

My father's name was Warren Dingus, he lived in Castlewood, he had several brothers and two sisters. I have a genealogy chart from Max Dinges in PA. It is so thick he would have to send it to you by surface mail.

I've been exchanging info with a Kay Dingus, her husband is from Coeburn, Virginia. She has 2 reference books about this surname.

Jennifer,
I hope we have the same Abe. I have tried
a long time to get some informaion about his
father,my great grandfather. Great grandfather
was a Thomas Belcher. My great grandmother
was a Dingus. I don't know if she and Thomas
Belcher were married or not. That.s the con-
nection I need. I would like very much to see
your information. Thanks for the reply.

Have you been to the Dingus cemetary in Wise County? There are several headstones there with names and dates, I am told.

Also there is a church that one of the Dingus relatives headed. William Dingus of Columbus, Ohio told me about it.

If I don't have the info, I am sure I have an e-mail address of a couple of people who would know who you are looking for.

My aunt kept all records, and went to every Dingus re-union at Twin Springs High School.

You might also want to contact Max Dinges at saladface@yahoo.com. He has a detailed chart, it is so thick he sent it to me by surface mail. Goes back to Philip and Jacob Dinges in 1773 in Dauphin County, PA.

Hi Jim:

What was your grandmother's name, and date of birth? I have three genealogy charts that show the descendants of Gerhard Dinges, and his sons, Jacob Dinges, Sr, William Dinges, and Philip Dinges. Gerhard Dinges was born about 1690 in Germany, died March 5, 1743 in Morsfeld-Daimbacher, Germany.

We have relatives in Russell, Scott and Wise County, so we just might have some connection.

The most helpful info is knowing the date of birth of your grandmother and place of birth, if possible.

My aunt kept records of everyone, she attended every reunion of the Dingus famiy at Twin Springs High School.

Here is a website that does free searches, you are limited to one search a day, but heck it is free:

ancestral-findings@bigfoot.com.

Also, have you asked Wayne McConnell anything? He is in Gate City and is keeping a genealogy chart on this family name.

I think we're related my G-G-G-G-G Grandfather was Johann Gerhard Dinges b.? d.1743, Johann's son (in my family) was Phillip Dinges. Then maybe Phillip's son changed his name or it was recorded incorrectly; because,as my cousin researched it Phillip's son was Micheal Dennis b.1748 d.1812 and married Rosannah Wolf b.1745 in Washington Co.,PA d. 1855. Michael Dennis had a daughter,Catherine Dennis. And Catherine Dennis m.William Wolf and their son Joseph Dennis Wolfe was my Great Grandfather. My maiden name is Wolfe. I was born and raised in Miami,FL. Most of research was done by my Cousin. But if you think it's the same line let me know. and I'll give you additional dates and documentation.

Johann Gerhard could have been Gerhard. I heard persons often went by their second or middle name and my cousin's records show he died in 1743 and Phillip was born in Daimbach(Daimbacher?) Germany in 1689 in Lebanon, PA
Well, just additional information. What do you think?
