MELANSON - Joseph Secomb Anderson, 84, of Melanson, died May 20 in Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville.
Born in Melanson, he was a son of the late William and Blanche (Curry) Anderson.
He was a retired farmer and took a keen interest in community affairs.
He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Smith, a son, William, Melanson; six daughters, Pauline (Mrs. Allison McDow), Port Williams; Dorothy (Mrs. Raymond Parson), North Kingston; Doris (Mrs. Raymond Walker), Spryfield; Marie (Mrs. Charlton Levy) Melanson; Hope (Mrs. Gerald Atkinson) Bridgewater; and June (Mrs. Donald Kennie), Gaspereau; 33 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by an infant granddaughter; two sisters, Alice and Fleda; a half-sister, Bessie Coldwell and three half-brothers, Burpee Anderson, Arthur Smith and William Smith.
The body rested in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville. Funeral was held May 23 in Gaspereau Baptist Church, Rev. Gary Manthorne, assisted by Rev. John Merks, officiating. Burial in Gaspereau Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children in Halifax or Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital.
