The first child was Minnie Arnold b 21 Dec 1866.
She is listed on the 1870 Poweshiek Co Iowa census.
She married Jack Jones and lived in Kadoka SD.
Owned the "Pearl Hotel".
Do you know her?

They are also in the 1880 Census of Monroe, Mahaska Co. Iowa, T9-353, v.22, p.255B. Don't see Minnie, but the two oldest boys were born before 1869 in IN, so they must have moved to IA about that time. Also, George's father is given as born in KY, probably of a Southern line. (I'm pretty sure that I'm not related.)

George was about 18 in 1860, 8 in 1850. I don't have all-name indices to the 1860 and 1850 Census of IN and the only George W. ARNOLD I found even close in age in my ARNOLD extracts was in Center Twp., Hendricks Co. The ages are about 5 years off based on his 1880 IA census age and the father born in IN not KY. Didn't see anything that fits in the 1850 KY extract either. (Don't have one for 1860 yet.)

Do you think this is the same family (or part of )in 1880 in Monroe, Mahaska Co Iowa? The two Arnold boys were younger than Minnie. I'm think that George W. ARnold and Sarah ? were married about 1865 - possibly Iowa.

Where did you find George W. Arnold in 1850 & 1860?

The following family is a combined family of ARNOLD and RUTAN:

George W. Arnold born 18 May 1839 KY or IN
Sarah (maiden name unknown) was born November 14, 1839 PA
Her first children were from her marriage to a man named RUTAN.
John Thomas Rutan born 3 Jun 1857 PA
Charlena Ann Rutan born 31 Mar 1859 OH? IA?
Alfred Peter Douglas Rutan born 31 Mar 1861 IA
Minnie Arnold born 21 Dec 1866 IA
Humphrey James Parker Arnold born 2 Jun 1870 IA
Orie Armine Arnold born13 Feb 1873 IA

The family was in Poweshiek Co IA in 1870 and Knox Co NB in 1880 - and then they disappeared.
George W. Arnold was a mason by trade.

Right, the 1880 IA family is the wrong one. The George W. in 1880 NE (not NB) is 41, only 2 years older than the IA one, so he still doesn't fit the any of the ones I saw in the IN 1850 and 1860 extracts, and I did not find him in 1850 KY extract either. I don't have the 1860 KY extract yet and we don't have his father's name to look up in an index.

I give up. Hope you can locate his father.
