Would like any information about Divelbiss family, especially Robert , born 18 April 1835, possible PA. Married 20 November1861 to Mary Jane Ferrenburg, born 10 January 1840 PA. Robert died 30 August 1914; Mary Jane died 8 July 1924. Six children: Anna Lauretta, Elizabeth Elner, Harriett Louisa, William Luther, John Chanson, David Elmer (my paternal grandfather), Abraham Price, Robert Laforest and Nellie Rebecca. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

hello Yvonne. I don't have data that matches your places, but I do know of the history of Divelbiss' coming to Sagamon County, Illinois. My grandmother Ida May White (born 1880) always said her mother was a Divelbiss. She was raised by an Aunt whose surname she said was Hickox. I found an Ida May Hickox in a book entitled "Early SEttlers of Sagamon County". She married a William White (probably brother to my grandmother's father) and was a descendent of Jacob and Catherine Divelbiss. I have notes that give their history about traveling from PA by river barge down the Ohio River to Illinois. Jacob and his son packed into Springfield, while the family followed by hack. I haven't found the connections, but I believe the Whites who may have come from Kentucky with Abraham Lincoln may have been the family that intermarried with these Divelbiss'. I found a couple (Sara Jane and James k.P. White who had the correct famly configuration in the 1880 census... my grandmother was born the following month)... If you are interested in more specific dates etc. I will send them.

Mary Jane was the daughter of Abraham Ferrenburg and Elizabeth Slates. Abraham was a son of John Ferrenburg born ca 1785 in MD.
Theodore was a brother to Abraham. He was here in Farrenburg, New Madrid County, MO before moving to CO. He married Dianna Ramsey and they had 7 children. I have been in contact with his descendants in OR.
