Hello I read your post. My family name is RAS. The name RAS originated in Germany and back in my family in the 1800s when they then moved to Holland. Members of family also resided in Asia and Belgium then migrated to Australia.

Wikipedia give a good explanation of the name RAS and where it came from, how names were changed and so forth. I looked it up under "meaning of names in Germany".

Hope that this is helpful.

Cheers

Maria

A very simple question: to where in the Netherlands did you family move? As of now, I am aware of two different branches of the Ras family in the Netherlands.

My Ras family line resided in Breskens, Zeeland, Netherlands. Some of them emigrated to the Rochester, New York, USA area in the early 1900's. Always interested in connecting with cousins.
