My maiden name is Crudup. My great-grandfather was named Johnnie Crudup and lived in Lake Village, Arkansas. He told me the family was originally from North Carolina. He was married to Lou Emma, but I do not know her maiden name. I am trying to find anyone who may be related to them. My grandfather, their son was named Frank Crudup and lived in Hot Springs, Ark

Hello, I am researching Crudups in AR. I just
started, and as I am sending this message, I do
not have my notes in front of me but I will try
to go from memory. This is my husband's family
and his grandmother does not know much. Her name
is Thelma Crudup Foote, her father was Roosevelt
Crudup and her mother Mildred Harvey, Roosevelt was
the youngest son of James Edward Crudup and Annie Brown
James was the son of Osborn and Fannie Crudup and
if I'm not mistaking they were from NC. They had a
son named Johnnie and I can't remember the others.

I My family is from the NC region, Nash County and there are still alot of us down there, Jack Crudup and others. We can correspond if you would like. I'm trying to find out when the split occured. There's 2 families the black and the whites, I want to know how and when the blacks left the whites and I figure it had to be from freedom granted to the slaves, we took our masters name. I think Josiah Crudup owned about 23 slaves and may have owned a Tobacco plantation in NC, while serving in the Senate.. if you know more let me know..

not sure

Have just started researching this branch of my mother's family tree. I have a Josiah Crudup, white, born 5 Mar 1870, Franklin Co., NC. Married Antonio Corelli Bristowe in 1893. In 1910, he and Corelli and children were living in Rockingham, Richmond Co., NC. Also stated as living with them was Elizabeth Remfry--Corelli's widowed mother,( who was also counted with the John Brown family in Guilford Co., NC). Josiah was a minister. They stated they had been married 16 years, and Corelli had given birth to five children, all of whom were living(Elizabeth B., Antonio Carelli, Josiah Jr.,~may have married a Beulah ?~ Edward A., and William.Obviously this is after the time that slaves were set free, but I have not traced Josiah back any further because my line is the Remfry line. I've been trying to figure out when and why the family moved to Humphrys Co., Mississippi where Josiah died about 1950. Josiah, Jr. and Edward supposedly died in GA, and William in Tennessee.Have not had any luck so far finding them in 1920/30 census, but I've just been at this for a couple of days. Can you offer any insight?

Hi, I am currently researching my husbands family. I found out that the plantation is on US1 in 3 miles from the Tarr River. I believe it is near Kittrell. However I can only find two records of Jack. Contact me so I can compare notes. littlebear_30@go.com

from what i have found, a John Patterson wrote a biography on the Crudup's. The one you are looking for supposedly moved to MS after acquiring a law degree in Wake Co. but lived in Bunn, NC. I guess he didn't like the law profession and decided to become a minister and moved to Missippi and stayed there until he retired.
