To Patricia Edgett:
I have found a George H. Adsitt that was born in Dutchess (Cty?), New York.
According to my records his son was George W. Adsitt who died in Phelps, NY on March 20, 1889 and he is buried in Gypsum Center, New York.
We believe this cemetery to also be called Plainsville, which is about two miles from my house. any more information that you could provide me would be truly helpful. You can reply directly to me at my e-mail address. Thank you

Hi Patricia -
Benjamin Adsit is one of 6 children born to John Adsit b.1688 in England. John married Mary Unknown (1692 - 1732) at Lyme, Conn. John died Jan 1733 at Lyme.

If you go to the LDS site www.familysearch.org and put in ancestor file number (AFN) 9VGF-LF you will be able to follow John Adsit down 5 generations to Rebecca Adsit b. 1827 in Canada. She married my g-g-grandfather John Skinner.

My g-g-g-grandfather was ISAIAH ADSITT who married MARIAH ???. Each was born circa 1800 and lived in the NY area. Their daughter, FRANCES A. ADSITT (b. 1829 in NY) married GILBERT BROOKS. I would love to find out the parents of ISAIAH and MARIAH. Thanks! Jan Mongoven (janetix@aol.com)

My mother's maiden name was Adsit. I have been curious as to the origin of the name. Thanks to you, I now know it was England. It was not easy finding this information. I appreciate your message.

I am looking for more information concerning William Adsit's ancestors from Geneva, Pa. I know they are from England. When did they come to US? Any info concerning this is of interest to me. I am of the fifth generation. Thank you.

My grandfather's name was William Henry Adsit. Connected to your William Adsit, I don't know? According to my mother's birth certificate he was born in Kalamzoo, Mich. I don't really know my grandfather's history as both he and my grandmother Adsit died before I was born. You might find some info in Michigan?
