Hi Linda

My name is Jason Toay and I am a descendent of William Toay who came from Cornwall. My father is Thomas Toay, from Iowa Co., Wisconsin.

I would be very interested to know if you have any information on the Toays. Your story about a valet to one of England's kings sounds very interesting.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Jason Toay

This is my husbands family,it may take me a bit to round up what I have.Wilbur was my husbands Grandfather.I will write more ,but, are you aware of the bad hearts in this line? Wilbur died young,I believe 62 after his 3rd corarny. His sons Don and Howard also had very bad hearts that killed them as well.Coronary thrombosis(?)Also his daughter Ruth,my mother inlaw. My husband has heart problems also.I will hun up what I have.Someone visited my Mother inlaw and gave her this long Geonology on Toays. It told who was the valet to the King etc. She has passed away and we have never found it.But theres someone out there who is in this family who gave this to her. Enough for now. will get back to you. e mail me at Doxymommy@aol.com.

There is a lot of info at the Iowa Co.Courthouse.I was suprised they let you go right in the old records and look for yourself.I have to go back next time I am in Wi. for more info.Who were your Fathers siblings? Is your Father still living? There were some Toays in the records that I did not recall as names I knew form conversations with Ruth,Donalds Mother. Please let me here from you. PS. We need to find the person who gave my Mother-inlaw the info she had about the Toay who was the val.to one of the kings of England.

Hi Linda

Here is a list of the Toays in my family - my dad tells me that there are other Toays in Iowa Co. so I just wanted to check if we are dealing with the same family.

Name of ancestor: William Toay (possibly originally Toy)
Place of Birth: England (possibly Cornwall)
Married in: Syracuse NY in 1850
Spouse: Bridget Breen, born 20 Dec 1832 in Wexford Ireland, came to US at age 2

Children: James (born Syracuse, 3 October 1852), married
Mary Brunker in Iowa County, Wisconsin, 30
Nov 1887
Philip (born 1856 in Ridgeway, Dodgeville,
Iowa County, Wisconsin)
Mary (born 1858 in Wisconsin)
Ann (born 1860)
Elizabeth (born 1862 or 1863)
Michael (born 1865)
John (born 1866 or 1867)
Bridget (born 1868 or 1869)
Teresa (born 1872)
William F (born 1872 or 1874)

This information came from Barb Andersen - I haven't actually seen any of the records available from the courts.

If these names are the same as your husband's family, please send me any info. you have. I will, of course share anything I have (not that I have that much at this stage.

Regards

Jason Toay

Hi Linda
I think there might have been a bit of a mix-up - I never had any pictures of the Flickinger family - I am not even sure if your husband's Toays are from the same family as mine - my dad tells me that there are two Toay families in Iowa Co. and they are not related (or maybe very distantly). I would be happy to help, but have no pictures here of any of the Toays, let alone the Flickingers.

Regards
Jason

Bridget Breen was my great great great grandmother. She was actualy born on Christmas day, 1832 in Wexford Ireland. I have seen her birth records in the Catholic church in Wexford. Her parents were John and Mary Breen. Her daugher Teresa Toay was my great great grandmother. She is generaly recognised by my family as having been the one who pushed, encouraged all to focus on education.
