Hi. My name is Holly Vredenburgh. I am looking for information on William or Willie Vredenburgh (Illois). He is my Great Grandfather. The 1920 Illinois census shows Ollie married to a George Barrickman but we don't know what happended to Ollie's first husband Willie. Any help would be great. mekofatboy at yahoo dot com

I have a William VREDENBURG, bc1810 NY or OH who was m to Susan Jane ? and Mary Ann WILLIAMS. Not sure this could be yours also? I can't find mine after the 1900 census.

I believe this is my William VREDENBURG:

Surname Given Name Middle Initial Company Unit Rank - Induction Rank - Discharge Notes Allegiance
Vredenburg William A 75 Illinois Infantry. Private Private Vredenburgh, William Union.

This is what it says on the War Department papers to the Commissioner of Pensions: William VREDENBURGH Co. D. 6 U. S. Inf. was Enl. June 19/40 at New York, N>Y> Dischrd, June19/45 at Fort Smith, Ark. Exp. of service- a fifer. Enlisted Aug. 20/45 at Fort owson, C. N. in the Band 6th U.S. Inf. Dischd. Aug. 20/50 Exp. of service - at Fort Snelling, Minn. - a pvt. no later recrd.

This is what else was found in a copy of pension app for Mary Anne COURTNEY: Reference to the records shows that one Susan Jane VREDENBURGH was pensioned as the widow of William Vredenburgh Musician, Band of 6th US Inf under Ctf. #1,812. (Mex. War). The papers in the claim show that VREDENBURGH r'cd May 14/75 and that the widow r'cd and was last paid to Feb 4, 1900. This pensioner showed marriage to VREDENBURGH Dec. 15, 1852.
