I am looking for information on Americus V. Williams who was an overseer.

Over the years I have found him in Lafourche Parish 1850 census, then in St. Charles Parish in 1860 and then in St. James in the 1870 census.

His wife's name was Alvina Gaudet-her full name was
Celeste Alvina Gaudet.

Here are some of their children names: Harriet, Thomas, Alexander, Mary, Alexander and Amelia.

The census' state that Americus was born in Maryland. We are trying find our Williams ancestor who lived in St. John Parish relatives. He too, was born in Maryland. His name was John Robert Williams who married V. Tregre.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Having just discovered the brother of my 4th great grandfather , Joseph C Williams, moved to Lafourche parish from Kentucky after risiding in St Mary's County Maryland , we noted that Americus was born in Maryland and that brought the possibility that his mother have been Priscilla Thomas and father Joseph C Williams.

I know it has been ten years since your original post so perhaps you have had success in sorting out the relationship. Let me know.
