Looking for any information on my husbands family. Grandmother's name was Giovanna Sebben from Fonzanso, Italy. She had at least one brother Joseph and two sisters Maria and Angela. She married Celeste Cechin in Italy and they immigrated to Kenosha Wisconsin. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jackie,
My family came over to the states when my
grandfather was 16; he was from Italy, he
came with a friend who was my great-
grandfather, and they both had the last
name of Sebben, supposedly no relation. My
grandfather married my grandmother and he
worked in the coal mines for years. They
settled in Seymour,Iowa. Think we're related? I hear there are many Sebbens
around the midwest region.

Julie,
What were your grandfather and ggrandfather's names? My husbands father was born in Iowa, his mother was Giovanna Sebben and she had several siblings that came to the US from Italy around the same time. There is also a sister that went to Brazil and a brother that stayed in Italy. Giovanna's parents stayed in Italy. Her father was Giovanni Sebben and mother was Marina Vigna.

Hi Joe,
My Grand father's name was Barthelemy Sebben, born in 1903 in Fonsazo, he was married to Marie Maddalon. The father of my Grand Pa died in Chicago he was an american citizen. My Grand Pa died over 10 years ago and my grand ma 6 years ago. We are starting to gather information thru some connection in Italy, but this process is taking forever :)
If you want to contact me, feel free to do so.
Thank you very much.

My mothers name was Corona Sebben born 1895 in Fonzaso, Italy Prov. Belluno. She had a brother that migrated to France and I believe his name was Bortolo. We lived in the Chicago Metro area for many years also. Mom married John Nicoletto from fonzaso. Both have passed on but I do have all their records and if you like I can copy them and send them via mail to you. I don't have an on line copier. You can also access Brazil for a much larger Sebben clan and they are good about responding. I also have been to D.C. to get more info. I believe my mother had at least 8 bothers and sisters, two of which were Salesian Missionarys to Brazil. Please let me know if you have any interest in the papers. My address is joe Nicoletto 101 kingswood ct. Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

Surnames: SEBBEN, SACCARO,FURLIN,PELLIN
I have been working on SEBBEN, SACCRO,FURLIN,PELLIN families who came from Fonzaso and Arsie, Italy in late 1800's and earlyh 1900's. Through postings I have communicated by E mail to Jay, Jim, Jackie, and Julie (coincidence with all the J's!!)

I have worked a little on and off and intend to get back to it more seriously in the fall. I would just love to have all who have E mailed me try again and maybe by keeping in touch we can clear up some of the confusion. We all know there are so many who have the same first and last names and must sort out by birthdates. Mormon churches in our bigger cities offer their computers full of stores of information about Fonzaso and Arsie...just dimes to get lists of families printed.

I intend to go back there this fall. I know there are a few TonySebbens and Angelo Sebbens..need to clear that up. Giovanna's too. It would be great to coordinate all of our information. I visited Seymour my entire life. The librarians there are very kind and accommodating. I'd like to be able to give that library and the one in Corydon, Iowa our organized information to add to the info they have there about the Italians who contributed so greatly to the coal minning in Iowa. Credit for bravery and tremendously hard work is long over due for this group of pioneers in the United States.

Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks!
