It is a bit more challenging to identify which are the births for Myra, John and Edna. Do you know what order they were born in? There are a number of possibilities. Do you know your g-grandma's maiden name? Was it by any chance Wood and is there a chance she was Lillian Alice? Do you know your g-grandfather's name - is Ben a possibility? There is a Lillian Alice Wood married 1908 to a Ben Harrison and with a daughter Myra.

I am related to Roy Frost. He is married to my cousin, Patricia nee Brierley.
Are you part of the Jolly family who emigrated to Australia?

yes, related to the migrated Jolly family

Roy Frost is my mums cousin.
My mum is Patricia Walton (nee Jolly)
Myra was my grandmothers sister.
Do you have any idea why Alice (myra's mothers) maiden name is? Pat (my mum has no idea at all) Don't suppose you could ask Roy for me?

It's nice hearing from you. I tried to track Roy down. Via the Epping Band. To no avail.

Hi Rosemary,

Thanks for the info. Mum seems to think Myra was born first, John second and Edna was definately the youngest.

I absolutely have no idea on Alices name, or whether or not that is her first or middle name.

I'm aware John died from demolition work to houses effected by the bombings.

He has two children that i'm aware of to Helen, Helens maiden name i have no idea of either.

It would be great to try and get some info on Alice. Tracking down these Harrisons is hard work, there are so many of them.

Hi Rosemary,
Just got off the phone to mum, she seems to think that Lillian Alice Wood sounds about right, not 100% sure, but rang a few bells in mums mind. Making progress. So if this is correct that means possibly Ben Harrison being my great grandfather. Now...question is how much further can we go back?

If it is Lillian Alice Wood, then I think you can probably go a fair ways back. Ben Harrison is a bit more of a question mark. But you will need to order some certificates to be sure.

1911 census shows:
WOOD, Samuel Head Married M 53 1858 Railway Signalman Triangle Sowerby Bdge Yorks
WOOD, Ann Wife Married 28 years F 54 1857 Lancs
HARRISON, Lillian A Daughter Married F 27 1884 Weaver Cotton Healey Lancs
HARRISON, Myra Granddaughter F 7 1904 Healey Lancs
Registration District: Rochdale Sub District:
Whitworth and Wardle Parish: Whitworth
Address: Hndle Pasture Healey Lancashire

Only marriage I find that seems to fit:
Marriages Jun 1908
Harrison Ben Rochdale 8e136
Wood Lillian Alice Rochdale 8e136

There is, however, a big gap between the birth of Myra and the two subsequent children, given that the census shows Myra's birth as 1904. So that is a question mark.

Now about Ben Harrison. I can see only two Ben Harrisons who are married, and not with a wife, in the 1911 census. One is 47; this one, 37, seems more likely to me. But you would really need to order the birth and marriage certificates to know for sure.

This Benjamin Harrison is listed as married, age 37, b. 1874 Oswick, accountant, boarding with Elizabeth Tickle, widow, b. 1863 Runcorn, Cheshire and her three sons, James, Harold and John, at 65 Northumberland Road Old Trafford Manchester. This Benjamin may be the son of Benjamin, a master grocer born Yorkshire, and his wife Sara A., if Oswick is the same place as Oswaldthistle.

About Samuel Wood:
1881 England Census
Name: Samuel Wood
Age: 23
Estimated birth year: abt 1858

Fanny Wood 10
(Note: Jonathan and Betty had a very large family.)

Marriages Sept 1849

Jonathan may be the son of James and Alice Wood, both born c 1811 Lancashire.

I've been reading the reply you got from Rosemary. Yes, she was called Lillian Alice WOOD. I believe her parents were Henry and Annie, but I don't know Annie's maiden name. Henry was from Poynton in Cheshire. Lillian was one of 10 children.
E-mail me at shaws@vectis8.wanadoo.co.uk and I'll send you all the information I have.

Sorry, her parents weren't Harry and Annie - I'd gone on to a different page!

Rosemary, you have been a gem! thank you sooo much.
I don't have full access to ancestry.com. But have an Aunty in Rochdale who i'm sure would be more than willing to organise copies from the office for me.
If you manage to find anything else, that would be just grand!
Once again can't thank you enough,

Kindest Regards
Dawn Arts (Walton)
