Isaac James Dibble was my Grt,Grt,Grt,Grt,uncle. His grandfather and my Grt,Grt,Grt,Grt grandfather were brothers. He came to Canada in 1906 and the 1916 census shows him living Sasktoon, Saskatchewan. You can email me for more info at m_bailey@bell.net. I may have a couple of extra Grt's in there somewhere.

Hi M (sorry do not know your name),I was much surprised to get your reply,it was such a long time since I originally put my enquiry on the message board.
Isaac James Dibble was my Grt/Uncle,his brother Henry John Dibble was my Grandad.
I was told that Isaac had emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's,I traced an Isaac Dibble to a place called Assinboa ? and that if it is the same one, passed away in Vancover,at quite a great age.
I hope we are talking about the same Isaac James Dibble,it would fill in a great gap in my family tree.
My name is Christopher John Owen Dibble
My Email address is opawomble@tiscali.co.uk
When I tried to send you an Email,it came up Invalid address,Can you send me your full Email address
Regards

Hi Chris. I though I would post this here as well as in the email as it may assist others looking for the same information. I believe I have the same Isaac in my family tree. He came to Canada in 1904 and made the trek to Assiniboia township, just south of Saskatoon Sakatchewan. He received a land grant from the federal government which you can see at the link below.

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/western-land-gr...

The link below will show you where approximately where his land was. You will see Swanson, count 3 blocks south and two blocks east and that is the section where his land was.

He later moved to Saskatoon and the 1916 census has him living at 1305 Ave D which is here.

Sometime later, he moved to Vancouver possibly to live with one of his children and he passed away on 6 Mar 1972, and is buried at the Mountainview cemetery in Vancouver.

I know how exciting it is just to find that little link that helps put a relatives puzzle together. I was contacted by a very helpful lady who goes by the name michaelhgeorge on Ancestry. She lives in Croydon now but was born in Bridgwater and she gave me the addresses of quite a few Dibble's. Isaac Dibble b.1802 in 1851 lived in North Street and in 1861 lived in West Street. Son Isaac b.1841 lived in 1871 at 12 Polden Street and in 1891 at 16 Bristol Road. My direct relative Robert b. 1848 lived in 1891 in Hamp Yard, Taunton Road.
Hope this little bit helps eveyone out.

Cheers
Mark
