Hello,

I replied to your previous post. I have 2 William Cleveland Sockwells in my files. Your's does not show to be the son of Joseph Marion Sockwell and wife, Louisa Gresham. Their son's birthday is 11-15-1885 and his wife was Mary E. "Mamie" Pipkin. He and Mary lived and raised their family in Georgia.

Your William Cleveland Sockwell's birthdate is 8-18-1885 and he married Myrtle Lucille Evans. They married and raised a family in Texas. However, I do show that he was born in Georgia but I do not have the names of his parents.

Wanda,
This family belongs to my friend Penny and she states she know that William Cleveland her grandfathers father was Joseph Marion Sockwell.
Infact she use to live across the street from the cemetery and Joseph and his wife Louisa is buried in Valley Mills, Texas.
Yes William was married to Myrtle Evans and we have found her parents. She was born in Oklahoma.

Jewell - then that is great news because several of us have been very puzzled over the existance of two William Cleveland Sockwells" with similar birth dates but very different families. I have marriage dates and birth/death/burial dates for them, their wives and also the children in both families. Also census listings. I will run reports on both and send them to you. Maybe you all can help solve the mystery. Also, there is a mystery as to who were Joseph Marion Sockwell's parents. We have have never been able to document that fact, either. I have just returned from church, but will run my files and send them to you later this afternoon.

Best Regards,
Wanda

I am new to "Ancestry", my grandfather is William Cleveland Sockwell (DOB 11-15-1885). His wife was Mary E but I lost touch at a young age and never knew her maiden name.

I have tried to find Grandfathers father for a while but so far unsuccessfully. GF was born in Newton County GA and I located one Tree of Albert P. Sockwell with a "Willie" and his 11-15-1885 DOB. But it seems to dead-end. Also, other owner's Trees of Albert do not show the same "Willie".

Do you have more info? After I post this, I will check Joseph Marion Sockwell.

Thanks,

William
