Looking for info on Samuel and his son John H Watkins.Plus Samuel wife Sarah Watkins. Don't know what her last name was.
John H was born in Baltimore, Baltimore Co, MD in 1794. His father Samuel was born around 1760 in MD. Samuel, Sarah and John H moved to Pa. They both died in Howard PA. Any Watkins in the area who might have any info. Any help would do.

Robert BARNES' Baltimore Co. Families, 1659 - 1759:

Many of the WATKINS families of Baltimore Co. descend from Francis WATKINS, who was there by 1680 & m1. Christiana WHITES/WRIGHT, who was daughter of Jane, wife of Thomas LONG, per deed of "Hopewell," 7 Je. 1681. Francis WATKINS m2. Mary, who survived him & m2. Wm. BARKER & m3. Capt. John OLDTON. Francis WATKINS made a nuncupative will proved 11 Apr. 1696, naming wf. Mary, sons Francis & Samuel, & daus. Margaret & Christiana.

Son Francis WATKINS m. Jane, dau/o Daniel SCOTT. Jane, whose will was pr. 31 Oct. 1765, m2. bef. Nov. 1713, Samuel HUGHES. Francis WATKINS d. by 11 May 1713, when bond was posted by Jane WATKINS with Danl. SCOTT, Jr., & Thos. BIDDISON. Francis & Jane had son Francis, who d. by 17 May 1757.

Francis WATKINS, s/o Francis & Jane, m. 19 Jan 1738/9, Eliz. MEAD. They had sons Daniel Scott, b. 5 Dec. 1739; Francis, b. 27 Sep. 1741, Benjamin b. & d. 1745; & Nathaniel, b. ca. 1749.

Samuel WATKINS, son of Francis (1), m. Mary, probably dau/o Wm. WRIGHT, whose will of 25 Feb. 1723/4 named dau. Mary WATKINS. Samuel WATKINS' will was pr. 22 Aug. 1743. Samuel's children were named in a court proceeding of Aug. 1746. Sons were Samuel, b. 15 Nov 1717; Wm., b. 10 Dec. 1720; John; & Solomon.

Samuel WATKINS (15 Nov. 1717 - 1795, Balto. Co.) m. 2 Je. 1757, Frances HARDESTY, but he may have had a prior wife Margaret. Samuel had sons John & Samuel.

There is more about WATKINS in the book, but the last Samuel above is not followed--records in the book end ca. 1759.

Thank you for what you have sent. Trying to find any thing on
Samuel Watkins. is a little hard. I did not know who Samuel's
parents were. I still don't know to much about him.Do you know if Samuel had a son named Samuel before he went to PA.

Samuel WATKINS & Sarah had in Baltimore, MD, Jesse, Mary A.., John H., Sarah, Rachel (possibly others). John H. WATKINS (19 May 1794 - 9 Jan. 1879, Curtin T., Centre Co., PA).

John H. WATKINS was 76, & Rachel, 72, 1870, Centre Co., PA.

Morrison may have been Samuel M., 47 in 1870. Samuel Morrison WATKINS (ca. 1822 - 1899) was son of John H. WATKINS & Rachel [LUCAS, per RootsWeb; other researchers are searching for documentation].

Samuel WATKINS moved to Pennsylvania by 1806 and bought land from David & Margaret TIPTON. He willed land to his son Samuel, who dsp in 1865, leaving land to his sister and brother, who sold to cousin Hezekiah "Izza" WATKINS. database of the 1880 census has these in Curtin T., Centre, PA, households of WATKINS: Samuel, 60; Issakia, 60; John R., 56; R. M., 36; George T., 25; & Harvy, 23.

FindaGrave: Barbara [SMITH] WATKINS d. 4 July 1863, bu. Sand Hill Cem., Howard Twp., Centre, PA. There is also a William WATKINS buried there, no dates listed. There may be two of the same name or one William listed twice. Note that there were two Williams on the 1850 census.

come from and who was his parents?
Did he have a brother named William?
