Surnames: Blackwell, Pettigrew, Harrell, Dargan
A. Shaw Dargan III posted the following at the Dargan Family GenForum in response to my inquiry:

"Timothy Dargan II b. abt 1740, <Cedar Run, Fauquier Co, Virginia>, d. 28 Sep 1783, Darlington Co, South Carolina was the son of Timothy Dargan I and Catherine Appleby. Timothy II married 19 Feb 1765, St Bartholomew's Parish, Colleton Co, South Carolina Ann Beasley b. abt 1746, < >, d. 3 Oct 1819, Darlington Co, South Carolina. They did have a child named Susannah b. 11 Feb 1778, d. < >, Darlington Co, South Carolina, married (1) 19 Dec 1799, <Darlington Co, South Carolina> William PETTIGREW b. < >, < >, d. < >, < >. Married (2) 20 Nov 1804, < > William Connell b. abt 1766, <South Carolina>, d. 1815, <South Carolina>. Married (3) 6 Mar 1816, <South Carolina>, Rev. John Good b. < >, < >, d. < >, < >.

I believe from the union of Susannah Dargan and William PETTIGREW there was one son:

James Alexander PETTIGREW was born on 4 Nov 1800 in Darlington Co, South Carolina. He died on 14 Oct 1879 in Darlington Co, South Carolina. He was buried in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Florence Co, South Carolina.

James married Elizabeth BLACKWELL daughter of Samuel BLACKWELL and (---------) COMMANDER on 3 Jan 1821 in Darlington, Darlington Co, South Carolina. Elizabeth was born on 7 Sep 1802 in Florence Co, South Carolina. She died on 19 Dec 1861 in Florence Co, South Carolina. She was buried in the Blackwell Cemetery, Florence Co, South Carolina.

They had the following children:

2 M i. William Alexander PETTIGREW was born on 25 May 1822.

3 F ii. Mary Ann Eleanor PETTIGREW was born on 8 Nov 1823.
Mary married Joseph Lewis HARRELL .

4 M iii. John Alonzo PETTIGREW was born on 6 Dec 1825.

5 M iv. James Robert Michael PETTIGREW was born on 10 Nov 1828.

6 M v. Samuel Blackwell PETTIGREW was born on 15 Jun 1830.

7 F vi. Isabella Susannah PETTIGREW was born on 17 Jul 1832.

8 F vii. Olivia Albertina PETTIGREW was born on 23 Jul 1833.

9 F viii. Anna Eugenia PETTIGREW was born in Sep 1835. She died in 1892 in Florence Co, South Carolina.
Anna married Joseph Edward WINGATE .

10 M ix. Thomas Jefferson PETTIGREW was born on 1 Jul 1837.

11 M x. George Washington Dargan PETTIGREW was born on 29 Sep 1838. He died on 21 May 1910.
George married Alice BOSTICK . Alice died in 1916.

12 M xi. Joseph Edward PETTIGREW was born on 16 Sep 1841. He died on 20 Jan 1909.
Joseph married Martha Frances TILLMAN daughter of Richard Henry TILLMAN and Narcissa BENNETT on 7 Dec 1865. Martha was born on 20 Apr 1847 in Wadesboro, Anson Co, North Carolina. She died on 25 Sep 1903 in Florence Co, South Carolina."

Sarah Elizabeth (Bettie) HARRELL, born March 1, 1842, was my great great grandmother. She married Albert Addison MYERS Sr in 1865. She was a daughter of Mary Ann Eleanor PETTIGREW and Joseph Lewis HARRELL .

Do you have any further information on Samuel Blackwell? Does the name Mary Ann Hamlin ring any bells?

Further research reveals that Mary Ann Hamlin was the second wife of Samuel Blackwell Jr. and was Elizabeth's step-mother.
