Mrs. Eva Doris Jewell, daughter of Mrs. Fay Young Matney of Greensburg and the late Mr. Lloyd Matney, was born February 16, 1933 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life at 8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 1979 at her home at Mell in Green County. She was 46 years, seven months and 23 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Maple Hill Methodist Church at the time of her death. She united in marriage to Mr. Redell Jewell December 18, 1951, who survives. To this union was born one son: Kenny Jewell of Greensburg. Mrs. Jewell is also survived by six brothers: Garland, Dennis, Maxie Matney all of Greensburg; Jerry Matney, Massachusetts; William “Bill” Matney, Indiana; and Junie Matney Glendale; two sisters: Mrs. Shelby Meadows, Greensburg: and Mrs. Charles Rock, Louisville, and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 1979 with burial in the Summersville Memory Gardens. Revs. W. D. Strader, Pat Humphrey and Cleston Pickett officiated. Pallbearers were: Phillip Blaydes, DeWayne Dunbar, Steve Jones, Phillip Thompson, Jim Compton, and Sherrell Milby.
