John Echols married Christina Brown (Braun) about 1770. In 1799 John Echols purchased 100 acres on the north side of Sinking Creek in Montgomery County from Alexander McPherson. That land later became Giles County. Does this help?

Hello
Would you know if any of your Eccles/Echols left NC and went to the Wilkes co/Oglethorpe co Ga area about 1790? My ancestor was Jane Echols who was born about 1779 in NC and married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilkes co ga. I am trying to find who her parents were. Have you see the name Eccles spelled Echols also? Thanks,Ross

I have seen the name spelled various ways. There could have been a sister, Jane, but not sure.

There are two Johns in NC about this time and so still trying to sort.
My John was in 1 NJ Regiment in Rev War. Eventually moved to Indiana.
His parents were from Wales and he was about 12 yo in 1776.

Please let me know more about Solomon Ray.

Thanks
Tom

James Cannon Echols/Eccles was born c1821 in NC and lived in present day northern Davidson County, North Carolina near the Forsyth County border. He married Anna Maria SPACH (1828-1915) on 23 Feb 1846 in what was this Stokes County, NC (now Forsyth Co., NC). They are listed in 1850 and 1860 Davidson Co., NC censuses. James died before 1869, when Anna remarried to Alfred EBERT on 03 Oct 1869 at Forsyth Co., NC. Anna and James ECCLES had two children Mary Augusta Eccles (1854-1926) and Luther Simeon ECCLES (1857-1907). Is James a descendant of your Rev. John ECCLES?
