I am looking for a daughter that was born to Jack Cacioppo in appx. 1938.

I know the address and telephone number of the family, and know that Jack died in 1990.

We contacted the family about 2 (two) years ago, and they did not want to tell us anything. Possibly, REALLY did not know...

We do understand, as this daughter named Nita was born out of wed-lock to Jack and Louise Stewart Smith or Karnes.

My father-in-law is Nita's brother, William Joseph Smith. NO, they did not have a great family life and William's (Bill's) mother had him at 16, meaning that Nita was born when Louise was around 18 yrs. old.

Have tried not to bother the family, but Nita was turned over to the Cacioppo family when she was around 5 yrs. old. It was this or the State was going to take her and Bill from Louise. Bill (William) went to a family (The Greens)in Texas.

We don't want a family reunion, would just like for Bill to meet his sister.

Bill remembers as a child of around 4-5 yrs old, he was left alone to babysit Nita, and called the fire dept. to report a fire on their street (there wasn't one!) because she was upset and liked the sound of the fire trucks.

There was trouble, and Lousie let the Cacioppo family take her and we don't know what happened to her. One of Jack's sisters (Ollie, Olivia??)was close to andhelped Louise a great deal, then we think moved to California. Did she take Nita with her???

If this sounds familiar to anyone, PLEASE respond to this message or E-mail us @ BradSmithArtist@cs.com

I was born in 1938 and had a cousin named Lena about 1year younger whose mother, Nadina, died of lupus. Nardina (LEONARDA) was married in Sambuca. I don't know what happened to her Nardina's husband but my grandmother, Vita Cacioppo, raised her. She eventually married an Avalone and moved to California. No one in the family has been able to locate her for years.
Vita Maurici Cacioppo had a sister Olivia but I don't know her married name.
The Cacioppo family in Brooklyn NY donated money to help build an orphage in Sambuca in the 50's. Could this be because of situations like yours and mine?
What is Jack in Italian? Was he known by another name.

Hi,

I got your response to my inquiry. Thanks!

I am not sure what Jack in Italian is. I know that it is short for John (in America), but unfortunately I am not Italian, nor do I speak or know any of the language (as beautiful as it is).

This Jack was in Monroe, Michigan and passed away in 1990, but his wife is still living.

My husbands Grandmother evidently became too good of friends with him and ended up having the child, Nita. Who knows what her name may have changed to.

Jack's family is still in the same home he had way back then, and has other family that live next door and very near. Is your family from that area at all?

This is really hard to track down. We only know that Louise (my Husband's Grandmother) did give "Nita" over to the family when she was around five years old.

When we called the Cacioppo family in Michigan a couple of years ago, we spoke to Darlene. Darlene spoke to some Aunts that would have been around at that time, and no one seemed to know anything about it.

We know that the Father(Jack)was married and understand that the whole situation probably caused some problems.

As Mrs. Jack Cacioppo was still living two years ago, maybe tha family did not want to bring up bad memories???

I will continue to look...if you know of the Darlene we spoke to or have family in the Monroe, Michigan - maybe there is a connection. Darlene told me back then that she had an Aunt Anne, and an Aunt Katherine. Did your Grandmother who raised Lena have a son named Jack or John? I think his wife only spoke Italian. (His name is listed as Jack in the Social Security Death Index, with address and phone. It is also listed in the US Telephone listings)

Thank you again for your response. The names seem like they may fit as well as the dates....Please keep in touch if you can think of anything more that may help us.

Dear Friend,
I am searching for my aunts lost parents, she and her siblings where privately adopted. She and her siblings are in there 30’s, they last knew of there parents living in or around Sylvania , Ohio before they where adopted out. Jack and Virginia Smith are the names of there parents, however they divorced so we do not know Virginia’s last name.we do know my aunt was born in Toledo, Ohio. And we also know that there father was headed to California after the adoptions. There where 4 or 5 children adopted out to different families in Indiana, they are Linda, Kathy, J.J., Jeff, (Wilber ?). If anyone has any info please contact me back at searching4lostfamily@yahoo.com It is of a great importance that we locate any relation that they may have. It has been years of wondering and waiting, any info will be greatly appreciated. They would like to hear from any family they may have out there.

Sincerely,
Melissa Hunter
