Hi. My name is Zetta McMeans Watkins. I am researching this name as well. I saw your response about Edward McMeans and was curious. My gggrandfather was Edward McMeans from Greenup county Kentucky. His daughter Missouri was my ggrandmother and her son John was my grandfather. John took his mothers maiden name. I believe his father was a Kiser. Would you be interested in sharing or comparing info. I would love to see if you have any info on the family that would go farther back. Thanks, Zetta

Hi Zetta:

Came across your post on McMeans Genealogy.
I am seeking information on the McMeans family in VA/WV area. I have reason to believe (confirmed) my G-G-Grandmother Ann Lewis maiden name
was McMeans before her mother Margaret McMeans married John McKinney her step-father.

Ann McMeans married her 1st husband
Enis Ratliff in October 1834 Tazewell
Co. VA. Enis and Ann had the following children: Silas, Rachel, Richard S., John, Margery and Agustus
after Enis death.

Ann Ratliff a widow then married her 2nd husband Fleming Lewis (my G-G-Grandfather) on 14 July 1854. Fleming was born 1828 in VA died 17 February 1865 at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH as a CSA P.O.W. Ann and Fleming had the following children:
George, Margaret E.and Fleming Jr. (my G-Grandfather).

If you or another Researcher of the McMeans Line can make a possible connection. Please E-Mail me at Foubar@WebTV.Net or Snail Mail me at: 545 North Snelling Avenue #214, St. Paul, MN 55104-2333.

Hi. Yes there is a connection. Anna was my great great grandpa Edwards sister. I don't really have anything on Anna other than her marriage info. I would be happy to share other info on the family if you are interested. Happy Holidays! Zetta

My Grandmother was a McMeans. She lived in Bluefield,VA. Her father was James McMeans. That is all I know, well, some seem to think her line was directly from Ireland. Her full name was Carrie Belle McMeans- m. name Hancock. She died in 1990.
There are several Hancock family members in Tazewell Cty. There are also Hobacks in this family
